Wow, knew some people would start complaining about a 4 year deal but didn't expect it to be so soon.

I was nervous when I logged onto Twitter just now to see any last minute transfer deals and saw Jamie Vardy as one of the top trends! Thankfully it's for a good reason.

Vardy could have a contract for life for all I care in return for what he's given us!

Oh I get that, unquestionably one of the best players to ever represent the club, but nonetheless a 31 year old whose playing style will not be viable as he gets older and slower, certainly in the Premier League. Four years for a player that age is extraordinary.

And for whom the Puel style of play clearly does not suit

It's a little bit bonkers, but nowhere near the James/Ulloa madness of last year

Perhaps as a reward for not hankering after a lucrative three-year deal elsewhere?
I’d rather we give bonuses than lengthy contracts as a reward. We’ve made that mistake far too many times since we won the PL.

Will you still be saying that in three years time?

You can't give bonuses retrospectively. They've got to have been in the contract. Hence the flash cars in lieu of foldable a couple of seasons back.

I think Vardy is skillful enough and smart enough to adapt to that, also us not relying on his pace as much helps

Jamie deserves it. He's been loyal to us really and played a big part in our rise from Championship mid table fodder into being one of the most wealthy clubs and valuable squads in world football. Nice to see we've showed him a bit of loyalty in return really by giving him that well paid lengthy contract that will see him into his retirement. Vardy was excellent yet again last year even into his 30s...

Starting to look old

100% agree TornadoShaun, he’s the lad that shows that with hard work, dedication and tenacity that anything is possible. He’s an icon for all non league players, and will rightly go down as one of the greatest players to wear the blue jersey.

I find it stunning that some on here are questioning this.

He may be 31 but in reality due to his late rise to the top he has the engine of a 25 year old and as others have said he is intelligent enough to adapt his game when this becomes necessary.

Should become our first 100+ goalscorer since Gary, barring an injury that ruins the rest of his career....

$ more years. Who is to say he will be significantly slower. More likely he will not be able to make so many runs, so may not score twice in the last 10 minutes!

Delaying his run on the West end playing Fagin by 4 years.

Wise move, he'll be better for it.
