vBookie Rules

Everyone's been given 500 virtual pounds to use with our virtual bookmaker.

Events will be added regularly, you can see them either by looking in the betting forum, or by clicking the vBookie link at the top of the page.


Betting rules are pretty much the same as for 'proper' bookies, for example cup match odds will be for the 90 minutes, extra time doesn't count. own goals don't count for first goalscorer bets.

One exception to this is that bets on goalscorers will not be refunded if the player doesn't take part in the match.

I've made a few changes tonight.

First the good news for all the people who have squandered their vcash. Anyone who is down to zero when a new event is added will automatically be given 10 vcash. This could be withdrawn at any time, so don't go wasting it all!

Secondly I've amended the stats page so it now shows the top 50 richest people: http://www.talkingballs.co.uk/vbookie.php?do=stats

In the top 50 thingy is there a way of only including people who have bet? That way we would lose all the people on 500 who have never bet/posted.

One small change for season two - anyone with zero vCash will now receive 20 when a new event is added.

The software has also been updated, with a few minor changes. The private bet option now works, and you get a proper acknowledgement message when you place a bet, which will hopefully reduce the number of duplicate bets placed.

On the screen, you get the same kind of acknowledgement message you get when you post a message. Previously you just got a blank screen.

A change of rules for the world cup knockout stage:


Goalscorer odds will include the whole match, including extra time (but not penalties)

All other bets will be for the 90 minutes unless otherwise stated.

The new vbookie season starts today and runs until the end of February.

One rule change from now on:

If a match is postponed the bets will stand for the rearranged date - if the rearranged date falls within the vbookie season and is announced within a few days. If not vcash will be refunded. vcash will not be refunded for hidden bets.
