I think Kelly is merely providing good stewardship and removing the need for us to act hastily in appointing a boss. He is only mentioned by the chairman IMO to keep him keen. I don't think they have any intention of giving him the job.

I agree Durham and he doesn't seem keen on becoming Manager and I think we need someone who really wants the Job.

Personally, I would keep Rob Kelly. He has obviously boosted the overall spirit and confidence of the squad, hence the six points we've gained from the last two games; therefore Kelly should at least be kept 'til the end of the season:038:

Did CL ever get wins on the spin? Webbo.....

We did this before. He had four lots of 'wins on the spin' - although for two of them you have to include cup matches:

Plymouth (h)/Leeds (a) - last season

Blackpool (Cup replay)/Gillingham(h)/Reading (Cup) - last season

Derby (h)/Leeds(h) - last season

Cov (h)/Cardiff (League Cup) - this season

Quite an impressive record, huh?

Not this season. Think he managed it once last season, if memory serves.

Oh dear!!

I hope the above didn't seem like ripping you to pieces. Those extended runs are so easy to forget. :icon_eek:

No it's fine! I meant league wins.

The longest run of defeats in league games was the 6 games that ended his tenure:
Reading (a)/Norwich (h)/ C Palace (a)/Sheff Wed (a)/Cardiff (h)/Plymouth (a)

There was no other losing streak of league games of more than 2 matches.

If you include Cup games, the longest losing streak was of just three matches and this happened three times (all this season):

Bolton (League Cup)/Leeds (a)/Stoke (a)
Reading (a)/Norwich (h)/ C Palace (a)
Sheff Wed (a)/Cardiff (h)/Plymouth (a)

Indeed. Plus, he's already said he's not breaking down any doors to get the job, and he loves being a coach. He's well thought of as a coach - you should stick with what you're good at.

Many of the best managers don't really spend time on the training ground (Clough, MON, etc) and one example of a manager who does, off the top of my head, is Peter T*ylor.

I'm sure anyone could produce equally impressive/depressing names that would prove the exact opposite, but I would say that great coaches don't always make great managers, and great managers aren't always great coaches. Draw your own conclusions...
