i think we will bid for him in January, although IMO we still need a "target striker ( a good younger Howard type)

IMO a target man is the last thing we need. We played so much better without one on Friday. We actually passed the ball around and created space the whole game.

Whenever Howard is on, we revert to hoof ball all the time. Howard should only be used as an impact player later in the game, for me, it's time to accept he disrupts our style of play too much and he shouldn't be starting.

Howard/Fryatt was key to our success last season. Maybe this season the centre backs are too quick for Howard. Pearson brought him on with success for the second half against Reading but Waghorne/Fryatt has not been a regular partnership yet. Pearson appears to choose his team partly to reflect the different opposition. So sometimes Pearson may think Howard is the right choice.

Get rid asap. I'm of the opinion that having too many options up front is the reason for the lack of a consistent starting 11. I haven't seen anything to suggest he's that much better than any of our other options.

is there such a thing as too many strikers?

I am not completely disagreeing with what your saying but I think its about picking teams to win particular matches. We knew QPR were going to be very open so picking a team that was more mobile and liked the ball on the deck up front was going to work. There will be games when a more direct syle of play will be more suitable.

Howard still has a massive part to play and he will be very important to us at some point in the season.

He wont sign permanently hes got a big future at Sunderland if you ask me.

Dont get your hopes up or we will end up like last season with Cleverly or Davies

If I was Waghorn's agent - and I emphasize that my advice is unofficial(at the moment) - I would advise him to stay on loan for the rest of the season and then see what division Leicester are in. If Leicester will still be in the Championship in which case he should return to Sunderland. If Leicester are promoted he should consider terms and which team is most likely to give him games.
Waghorn's future surely lies in the Premiership - I hope it is with us.
