It could have been a deflected shot. Had the ball gone in direct, then by your interpretation Woods postition would have meant the goal was disallowed for offside. Who the target of the pass is irrelevant, it is the position and the interaction of players (in the opinion of the ref) at the point of the ball being played that decides on whether it is offside.

It really is. If Wood had jumped onto Almunia's head and tried to force feed him his cock from an offside position, then yeah a Knockaert goal would've been disallowed. If Knockaert had shot and completely ignored Wood, Wood being where he was would have been irrelevant. But he didn't, he passed it to him while he was plainly offside. It's that simple. Honestly.
