Weak Links?

Who are the weak links in the current starting line ups or is it just that CL keeps changing the team around or playing people out of position?

I think the biggest problem is the lack of a solid dependable left back. We really need to sort out our best back4 and stick with them for a few games
CL had all summer to sign a good left back but went for a solid centre back who can also play there and a young lad who is not ready or good enough.

I would play Nils and Gerrbrand together with Stearman and Shehan/Gilbert at left back.

Kisnarbro on the bench as he seems to play ok in a variety of positions (but not great in any).

Joey and Hughes should be played together and maybe try Wilcox on the left

I think CL has finally realised this with maybury, for much of his time at hearts and here as well, maybury slotted in at left back, even though he is a right back.

He bought a solid centeral defender in johansson, and now plays him on the left with 3 other left backs avalible and fit!!

We have young full backs in Sheehan and Stearman, but not playing them often enough. Eiether stick with maybury on the left, or drop him because he has not been performing well. Gilbert looked shaky, CL doesnt seem to want to play him, so stick with sheehan, who had an ok game last week, and play him through the next few games.

On the left of midfield, we are playing hughes. Ok, he can fill in that role if needs be, but he is so much better infield. Some may say hammill and wilcox arent doing too well when given the chance, but if they are only playing half a game/ a game and then not playing the next three, how are they going to get into the rythm of the team. I say give hammill a 5 game run on the left hand side.

For the QPR game, we played 2 defensive midfielders, at home. I cant see playing 2 defensive midfielders away, but if you are looking for a draw, like against wolves, maybe it is ok. But with even with hughes out on the left, we had williams on the bench yesterday. That meant we had 2 similar players, joey and kisnorbo in the middle. Why cant we have Williams/Hughes with Kisnorbo/Joey??

Up front, we have MDV playing reguarly. He is probably the only player bar Douglas who has played almost every game, in his preffered position. As such, he is playing well and scoring goals. Iain Hume cost us half a million pounds, he is fit, and yet has not played a whole game for us yet. Elvis is more of a sub in my eyes, as he has so much pace, can fit on the wing, and terrorise tired defenders, just like he did yesterday.

I think the line up CL should pick, and stick with is:

Hume

Stop chopping and changing CL, get a team, get them settled, and start winning games, otherwise the fans will be calling for your head!

Problem is, CL won't drop Maybury even though he hasn't been a patch on Stearman this season. The selections at LB have been nothing short of laughable.

He'll have to drop him for three games now at least, and hopefully in that time Stearman can play so well that Maybury can't force his way back in... Not sure how likely that is though.

He will still go back on the bench regardless, It's time to move RS in to the centre of defence if he can't play at RB.

Sorry and all that but I think Johansson is a poor player and is definately one of our weakest links. Gerrbrand could be the answer but no one has really seen him play yet have they.

Gudjohnsson flatters to deceive and if Williams could play a full 90 minutes rather than the 60 he does at the moment I'd put him in instead.

It's mornonic and counter productive but get used to it, thats all I'm saying.

Permission? I was in there on Saturday. Week games are a struggle to get there in decent time from Hinckley. I will see you in the ground if not.

The left side is our problem, defensively or attackingly. Playing Johansson there gives us nothing going forward and we finish up just attacking up the right hand side. This is easy to defend against when there are no options on the left hand side. We need to use a proper left back and stick with him, giving him assitance with a left sided midfielder. If you play a right footed player on the left then the natural instinct is to cut inside onto the right thus negating the attacking option down the left. Would like to see Sheehan used more with Danny for support. They could interchange and that would make Danny more effective instead of letting roam across the field. Joe Hamil could do the job eventually as well. Gives us a option going forward instead of booting down the right for Sylla to chase when he feels like it.

Sylla - Looks a class player when he can be arsed to chase the ball, he seems to be as lazy as gillespie was.

Kisnorbo - He hasnt impressed me in the hand full of games hes played in, looks very slow, nervous and prone to the odd silly tackle.

McCarthy - I thought he looked good last season though he seems to have gone down hill quite quickly. He is no better than Heath in my opinion.

Devires - For such a tall player he is woeful in the air, for the 4 goals he has scored this season he should off bagged plenty more. We cant afford to keep missing opportunities.

Hume - Looks a decent signing, seems keen and chases around alot. He seems like a player who should play just behind a front pairing or playing off a big player who can head it on for him to run onto.

Elvis - Looks keen, very quick but lacks that little bit extra, a good sub to have in my opinion.

Sheehan - looked good in the few games hes played but still looks a little nervous. An extended run in the team would do him good.

Hughes - looks a different class when he plays, il be abit worried that the premiership vultures will be hovering around in the transfer window.
