Weale Joins Cobblers On Loan
Posted on: Fri 20 Jan 2012

City goalkeeper Chris Weale has agreed a month-long loan move to Northampton Town.

The 29-year-old stopper joins the League 2 Cobblers to get some first team football, having made just three appearances for the Foxes this term.

Since joining City from Yeovil Town in the summer of 2009, Chris has made 87 appearances for the Foxes, but has seen his opportunities limited this term by the outstanding form of Kasper Schmeichel.

He heads to Sixfields ahead of a crucial game for Aidy Boothroyd's side against fellow strugglers Barnet this Saturday.

City have subsequently recalled teenage goalkeeper Adam Smith from his loan spell with non-league Lincoln City.

Weale to Northampton

One-month loan, mate at BBC Northampton has confirmed it.

EDIT: Apologies, didn't see it was on the OS.

Hope that's the last we see of him.

Truly a player I've never had any time for at all.

That's more than a little harsh. He was excellent in his first season here. He was responsibke for many of the points we got that season. Remember one game in particular away at Reading on TV where he was magnificent.

Skip to 3.50 for a classic Weale flap.

Not to mention the throw out against Bristol City last season and the countless long range shots that beat him.

Harsh it may be...my early instincts were proven right though, weren't they?

That Derby mistake is stomach-churning.

Good luck to him, no problem with him as a back-up keeper but understandable if he wants to move to play regularly.

Feel the abuse is a little harsh as he did have a number of great performances for us but he may be better off suited playing in a lower league. Would have thought he would be good enough to get a spot at a League 1 team though not sure a spot between the sticks at the football league's bottom club is the best place to get his confidence back!!

He should be a shoe in to get into their team. Let's hope he can show a bit of fight and sole and lace together some decent performances or he will be on his uppers.
