My Dad's best mate thinks that we will be signing a number of well known, good players: he thinks we will get players such as Owen, I get what he means because of the world class manager that we have now, such things have taken place with lower league teams and good players, Sol Campbell for instance went to Notts County becuase Sven was there so I cannot see why players just as good can come to the club where we are obviously a lot better standard than Notts County in the league and I too think that we will sign good, well known players, maybe not Michael Owen, but definately premier league quality players.

What do you think of this? Is my Dad, his best mate and me totally off our heads or totally on the right lines?

I think your Dad's mate is off his head :icon_lol:

Well considering people have been saying for years that Sven was just round the corner with Joey I suspect he shall be joining

I saw the most well known player to come at the lakers nba game last night - ashley cole!

Well known players can do well. The obvious examples are Tony Cottee and my favourite player of the last ten years Brian Deane. However, too often they seem not that bothered like Nathan Blake, Keith Gillespie and the execrable Carl Cort.

Two of Pearson's best signings were the Bulgarian international Tunchev (sadly only for half a season) and the Swiss international Berner. I wonder if we might get more quality foreigners.

I am very pleased to see Waghorn back but if I had to make a wish it would be for the return of Jay Spearing. For the few games I saw him play last season I thought he was our best midfielder and I write as a Wellens and King fan.

Roque santa cruz on loan with view of a permanent move anyone?

I expect the Thai investors will want a few well known players to go along with their well known manager. All to boost marketing of course. I wouldn't be suprised to see some audacious signings - pires, santa cruz.... Whether this will work out, who knows.

And I was never going to be a bricklayer even with a name like mine!
