I didn't say it was to do with the last break, I said the pin inserted from the first break was involved in this particular break....

Not too surprising that it's in a different place to the first one cos when a bone heals and knits together, it generally is stronger there than the rest of the bone.

Personally, I'm a big fan of having a titanium bar inserted down the inside of the bone - makes me feel almost invincible!!

:icon_eek:

Young bones have a small amount of give in them, i bet that the bone wanted to bend slightly in the challenge but teh pin held it rigid and broke it at the interface point.

I dont really want to speculate any more on him and i wish James all the best!

Apparently when he twisted his leg that twisted the pin which caused the break.

All this talk about how Weso broke his leg again is making me wince.

I've got some direct experience of this as my right leg was snapped in half by some nutter from Bardon Hill in a Sunday league game two years ago. As an older gentlemen (just under 40), it was recommended that I leave the intramedullary rod (i.e. pin) in permanently as it wouldn't be affected by bone growth.

As an 18 year old, I would have thought that he would have been due in soon to have the pin removed. So it sounds like he's been really unfortunate with this break.

so you're never gonna get your rod out again...ever?

The situation is very unfortunate...and worrying.

Ludicrous that it all arises from a savage and irresponsible challenge in a so called 'friendly' game.

It is a terrible situation, and one as others have stated that does cause concern over Weso's long term future, the only crumb of comfort is the fact that Weso will have the rest of the season to recouperate, and can then come back ready for pre season and can build himself back up, without the obvious pressure of an ongoing relegation battle.

There is no doubt in my mind that our sitution, led to him being rushed back too quickly. Also if there are any concerns in the summer, at least Kelly or whoever the new manager will be, can make provision in the transfer market. it is imperative this time that Weso is not rushed back, we have to look long term.
