Let’s see if we can get Perez a little more central and give him a chance to do what he did for Newcastle so well. Let us never speak of playing Maddison out wide ever, ever again. Time to try and establish a settled team we can use for a few games in a row. It is no coincidence that we began to look shaken after the unnecessary tinkering with the team and we haven’t looked the same since. Chilwell is too much of a liability as a defender, if he has to play then we’d be much better off playing him as a left winger as that is pretty much what he does at the moment, leaving massive space in behind. Liverpool’s first goal was a clear example of his positional naivety as a defender but when he is playing well he moves the ball forward at pace and can offer a real threat. Let’s take the worry of having to defend out of his head. If that’s too much of a risk, leave him out and play Gray or Barnes; there’s little to choose between them.

Things are abit downcast on here today. The wheels have started to wobble. Tielemans was overpriced and Maddison is a showpony. Vardy is knackered and Chilwell is overrated.
For some perspective, I suggest people should pop over to the West Ham forum. They are all on suicide watch and expect us to win comfortably.

2-1 to the Hammers.

Very important game. A lot more important than it should be. We'll learn quite a lot tomorrow.

I think what the last few games has shown is that everyone else is working out that our midfield is unbalanced and needs players who can both defend and attack.
I would seriously consider building our midfield around Ndidi, Praet and either Ricardo, Chilwell and maybe Justin.
Let Vardy, Maddison and Tielemans terrorise the opposition defenders.

Man City losing will have given the lads a boost. Chance to extend the lead over them again. COME ON CITY! Hammers 0-2 City

Great result by WW. Showed real determination against a top quality side even when 2 down and had dispiriting penalty decisions against them. Still second - Now come on City !

Showed more than we did against them that's for sure

I think Wolves are the ones to be scared of most taking a top 4 position them & Spuds, it will be Liverpool,Mank c, then 2 from Leicester,Wolves & Spuds.
How shit would it be if we finished 5th.....

We look tired. Some look utterly exhausted. We have to give a few players a break to have them back and effective for what is to come.

We will need our strongest side fit and up for it against Villa on 7th Jan and the extremely demanding fixture list that immediately follows. Therefore, I think a few need to miss today and Wednesday as well as the FA Cup tie. I'm talking about the full backs, Evans, Ndidi, Maddison, Tielemans and Vardy being nowhere near the squad for the next three games.

That leaves us with a side for today and the following two matches of something like:

Schmeichel, Justin, Morgan, Soyuncu, Fuchs, Choudhury, Praet, Albrighton, Perez, Iheanacho, Gray

With support from: Ward, Benkovic, Mendy, Barnes, Amartey, James and a few U23s.

He cannot continue to batter the same exhausted players. Their levels have already dropped a lot. We're just going to get injuries and losses of confidence otherwise which will be far harder to rectify.

Expecting this game to be absolutely terrible

0-0

I find the pevious two performances more concerning than getting hammered by two good sides. Hopefully two wins against some duffers will now follow to put us back on track.

Newcastle aren't the complete duffers at home

Just a thought, would you take a 0-0 though? Clean sheet, away point after two hammerings
Not if we have any ambitious in finishing in the top 4, WestaHam are dog turd look where they are in the table 0-0 would be 2 points dropped as far as I'm concerned

I think we need a win here to arrest a possible slide.
I think it will be up to some peripheral characters (Hamza, Nacho, Praet) to prove that they can win games and support us so we know what needs investment for our next European tour. And after the last few Nacho games, I believe he can do it!

When asked about selection for this game, BR said that the only time he previously had only one day between matches (2011 with Swansea) he made eight changes and it worked.

West Ham's selection will be interesting. They had a twelve day break before Boxing Day so their players cannot be as knackered as ours. So they may be tempted to pick most of the same players. I hope they do as that would be very stupid of them.

They are likely to have Roberto in goal. He's let in 18 goals in 8 games and plenty of them were down to him. His record as keeper for them is W0 D2 L6.

They've also not won at home since September. Their last five at home are LDLLL.

Properly organised and motivated, our second team should win this comfortably.

Shoot from ****ing anywhere if that pleb is in goal
