Hmmm, don't think we have enough so far and will need another good bowling performance.

129/4 off 16.4

D/L means West Indies need 80 off 9 overs. Not sure what this means to bowling and fielding restrictions as only caught the end of what was said.

No complaints about the result and good luck to the Windies.

England failed because they did not have anyone after KP to play big shots.
Against the Netherlands, SA, India, and now the WI the middle order batsman just didnt do enough, either to get us out of the crap or consolidate a good start. They just get totally bogged down.
No 4's or 6's after the 10th over until Broads last two shots in the final over. Simply not good enough.

D/L is a far better method than they used to have, and obviously its the same for both sides. That said, imo it didnt do England favours today.
Chasing 162 from 20 overs looked more difficult than chasing 80 odd from 9 with all wkts standing:102:

Anyways, well done to the Windies:)

All spot on again BB. Mascarenhas should have been in. Colly and Foster's batting have really been one of the main problems in the competition.

Gutted, we still had a chance and a semi-final was there for the taking.

They did, but he only faced two balls.

Poor captaincy imo.
Broad can certainly hit boundries, he is one of those players that may not be in for long, but he could do some damage in the time that he is. He should have at least come in before Foster.

And possibly before Collingwood in the particular circs.

Speaking of whom, did I really hear him say post match that Wrighty was one of the top order guys who had had a good tournament?

Surely it was stupidity to choose to bat first when D/L was gonna come in to play at some point. I don't know the official figures but the team chasing under D/L always seem to win whether it be T20, one day or other.

I watched an interview after the match and Collingwood said that they had checked the weather forecast before the toss and it said there was only a 20% chance of rain

They were watching the wrong fecking day then. The BBC were widely reporting that rain would start around 4-5pm and would stay. Ok it was later but it was pretty much guaranteed at some point.

So saying "It's guaranteed at some point" would be a good enough reason to put the opposition into bat even if you think it is a good batting service? Just on the vague hope it will go down to D/L and it might make it a little easier to catch them at the end?

England didnt lose because of the weather they lost because they didnt hit enough 4s and 6s after the 10th over.

If it hadn't rained then I think we would have won and gone through, but I guess thats little consolation. We would have still got beat by SL in the semis. Mendis and Murali are going to win this tournament for them.

We always seemed to be 20 runs short when we batted. I put this down to
a) Luke Wright being a county bits and pieces player
b) Shah looking uncomfortable at the crease and struggling to go over a run a ball
c) Us being a batsman short throughout. The T20 game is all about runs. I just thought we looked a batsman light when Rashid and Dimi were in. Patel or Prior as a specialist batsman would have both been good additions.

I think D/L should take into account Windies wickets more. The emphasis they put on wickets is silly, as its an entirely different game before the rain comes, the idea is to get as many runs as possible, but the D/L means keeping wickets down becomes more of a priority than the first batting team should have to depend on.

Interesting that if we had been using the scoring system the IPL used for T20 matches, then WI would have been chasing 94.

DL doesn't seem to have been updated to reflect T20 and the quicker scoring rates etc.

Imo 90-95 would have been a realistic challenge on the basis of Englands score. WI batsman were allowed the freedom to play, where as England needed to construct their innings.
Its not sour grapes, there are simply better 20/20 teams than England.

arse raped by sri lanka tonight. gayle finally puts an innings in and plpppllllll wank

Sri Lanka were my early tip, looks like ill be picking up a tidy packet on Sunday.
