I left the ground at 4.55pm, and made the 5.15pm train I was booked on. Feck me did my legs hurt on Sunday morning.

Train cancelled from B'ham to Nottingham, so had to go via Derby. Once in Derby, I had an hours wait, only then to be advised of another 30 minute delay. Finally got back into my house 12.05am

Yes on a day like I had, fox travel would have much better. The cost wouldn't have been a great deal of difference either.

What pissed me off the most was, when I got into Birmingham there was a train to Nottm within 5 mins of me arriving, but when I asked the woman at the help desk, she said I had to travel on the connecting train as per my ticket, so I had to wait an hour, which wasn't a major problem as I expected to wait for an hour anyway. Had we arrived on time we wouldn't have been able to make the other train, it was only the fact that we were early we had the chance to, but the woman said NO !!

So I waited and then 5 mins before we were due to get the train, came the dreaded announcement, and then when there was another 30 minute delay in Derby (I had already been there an hour waiting too), i was about to launch anyone from the train company in sight, but was there anyone around ?? Was there feck as like.

That is bollocks. You were travelling on Virgin Value tickets. They are valid for a specified Virgin service (or services) and connecting services of other train operating companies. If you look at such a ticket you will see MAND (for mandatory) against the reservation for the Virgin part of the journey. You can travel on any service of any train operator for the rest of the journey as long as you travel by a valid route.

I hope you have retained the tickets for your compensation claim.
