Evening All - Lurchio back for his 2nd post.

Just got a couple of thoughts on who's available if CL was to be sent back to scotland.

I for one are of the opinion that the club is going through the motions with no passion, aggression, enthusiasm at the club which we have thrived upon in the past.
In respect of this i automatically come to think of the following people.
Peter Reid - Could he cheer the players up. Got messed around at all clubs he has been at. Wouldn't be so bad if he had stability like he had at Sunderland for first few years.
John Gregory - Shit at Derby but not too bad at Villa. Would put the fear of god into the players and press. has an us and them mentality. Yes we all hate him but would put the rockets up the arses and would get results.
Martin Allen - This is my personal fave but has no experiance of a higher league which we are counting against CL now. Complete wacko who i beleive will get to the top. Agressive, passionate, bags of enthusiasm. I believe the players would enjoy his style of management and respond. Brentford talk wonders about him.
Best of the rest
Gary Mac- Leicester blood in him. Been out game too long? seems to be faveouriate of others.
George Graham - I would take the boring 1-0 wins if it meant a return to prem.
Greame Souness - Soon to be ex Newcastle manager. personally think he has to be the unluckiest manager around although with players like Boumsong and Bramble, some would differ.
Phil parkinson - Great job at Colchester. linked in the past with him.
Gianluca Vialli - Bit of italian passion wouldn't go amiss
brian little - Well wouldn't be that bad i don't think
Dion Dublin - Cheap option with D of F
Mike Newell - Would he jump at the chance to manage a "bigger club" ( not on league position)
Jose mourinho - wonder what he would do with this lot.

Just a few names. Allen personal favourite but if CL was to go who would you like.

The key issue is that IF CL resigned or, more likely, was dismissed on Wednesday morning, I really doubt that we have the funds to pay up the contract of managers (and their staff) currently working. Which rules out targets like Martin Allen etc.

The alternative is thus either from within the club, or from managers currently out of work, ie Bassett or Reid. And neither of these 2 fellas, nor a Rob Kelly and/or Dion option fill me with any kind of enthusiasm.

But then, they could hardly do worse that the present incumbent.

Peter Reid - a realistic option
John Gregory - yes because leicester fans would welcome him with open arms ;)
Martin Allen - good option but why would he want to come here when he is on the up with brentford
Gary Mac- never really worked for him at cov-rose tinted spectacles
George Graham -dream on
Greame Souness - not going to happen
Phil parkinson - Great job at Colchester. linked in the past with him.
Gianluca Vialli - did fook all at watford-only good when he has cash
brian little - possibility though they say never go back
Dion Dublin - local lad give him the job ^
Mike Newell -wouldn't jump at the chance to goback to square one
Jose mourinho - :081: i wish!

Doug whos that in your picture? Its not the bbc's political editor Nick Robinson is it?

The key point for me is that IF CL goes then the board will only want to appoint til the end of the season, otherwise there is little pressure for someone to keep us up. That negates all managers in work as why would they leave a stable job for what could be a dozen games in charge here :102:

The only ones who elate me out that lot are Martin Allen, Mike Newell & Gary Mac. They should install some pride into player if they are capable of having any for the foxes. Troubles is though the first 2 are already contracted to clubs and Gary Mac has been out of it for a while. I would be interested in Nigel Clough, has shown a lot of ability in the lower league over a period of time, Could be worth a try.

It's Philip Larkin - the only good thing to come out of Coventry.

Yes, I see the likeness to the BBC bloke - as he might look in 20 years time!

Dean Thomas from hinckley;) , if the players didnt do what he said he would just fight them (probably), was actually linked with the Notts County job at one time.........

Presumably only because he used to play for them. He is useless.

I know, he has been in that job for 9/10 years now since the uniting of the teams and never really done much, considering the fact he has a reasonable budget for his level. It was said tongue in cheek tbh, dont see us getting anyone in that has been mentioned recently. Im seriously worried....

Thomas only remains at the club because of the work he does off the field and his friendship with the Downes family. Hinckley need to get shot to move to the next level. They could atract a Nigel Clough type with the new stadium and healthy finances.

I see Dodds has gone out on loan to them.

I'm not keen on any of the names mentioned either but I doubt any of them could worse, results wise.

Peter Reid - Crap

John Gregory - C*unt & crap

Martin Allen - Unproven but can't be any worse than the current management (at least he has experience of L1 just in case)

Gary Mac- Crap

George Graham - Bung him and maybe

Greame Souness - Crap

Phil parkinson - Dunno much about him

Gianluca Vialli - Crap

brian little - Comebacks seldom work. Plus we need to look forward.

Dion Dublin - Don't think he's got it in him

Mike Newell - Would've come if we had asked him before we decided to get Levein, but i doubt it now.

Jose mourinho - Ideal candidate

Keegan - is a Mourinho in this division, ensured Newcastle weren't relegated and then the following season they were unstoppable.

Lawrie Sanchez - Part of the original Wimbledon crazy gang. Management career floundered towards the end of his tenure at Wycombe but his Wycombe team did kick our asses in the FA cup. NI's win over England epitomised his teams work horse attitude. Does provide passion and desire to win.

MON or Lineker - To do what Brooking did for WHU and come and sort this shit out until the end of the season. (opposite to a Brooking cos he relegated them)

As far as i can see were going to be relegated at the end of this season as it is, so lets get lineker and walsh in. atleast it would actually give us a reason to watch these pathetic bunch of tossers. :)

I agree with Duzza, if the initial appointment is to the end of the season then a short term appointment of a Peter Reid, John Gregory et al would no doubt in the short term provide the impetus and passion to possibly ensure survival, however this type of arrangement would also no doubt lead to a guarenteed longer term deal being awarded on survival, and I am not convinced that these types would be decent long term appointments.

My solution would be appoint Brian Little, he knows the club, the division and he has passion, he also is used to working under strict financial constraints, if the unthinkable happened he also has the expereince and knowledge of the lower leagues to no doubt get us back up. However I really believe he would save us this season and also start the process of taking this club back to the higher reaches of this league. I would also like to see Gary Mills and Simon Grayson return as part of the backroom team, they can work with Little and be groomed as potential replacements in 2/3 years time, this would provide some much needed stability and continuity.

As for the never go back, I dont necessarily agree, we need a familiar face, somebody who understands what Leicester is about but also has the experience, ability and know how to take us forward.

George Graham would be excellent IMO, but I highly doubt he would want to come here. It's been a few years since his last job so maybe he's enjoying his life out of football and out of the limelight.

No one has mentioned Nigel Clough who I would imagine would be in the frame too, all this talk of Graham, Keegan, Souness etc is really just trite, as is Newell - no way people, no way. Wouldn't want Martin Allen due to hoof-ball.

and he thinks he's funny - I've laughed more at an episode of The Planets Stupidest Animals.

graham is on a good earner working for sky prem plus no need to be involved in the shit he would get in managing our team
