He wasn't there, however discussions are still in progress so his non-appearance is not a negative

This is quite funny. The FT seeking to reassure us that discussions are on-going. I thank you for that FT.

Just one more favour please - how are the discussions going over the ' other options' that you felt needed to be explored/ evaluated - which you talked about but a few weeks ago. Are they likely to be bearing fruit in the near future?

other options doesn't have to mean takeover offers, there was the 'rights issue' for a start. but no doubt thats on hold pending results of MMs takeover attempt.

it might also be that some of the other parties who had expressed an interest would come out of the woodwork again if the MM deal fails.

it was widely speculated that other parties were interested in a takeover (not by the FT i might add]

several people claiming inside information, posted some identities, it was even suggested that Due Dilligence had been carried out by someone prior to MM. and i recall reading at least one national newspaper article that stated interest from several sources, though i can't recall the wording to state whether it was speculation or had any evidence.

it is worth noting that MM admitted himself that he had been forced to act quicker than he wished, this fits with other interest in the club.

This is all speculation of course, but my post was intended to clarify that the FT hadn't suggested the pottential of any other bids, i realise i didn't do it very well :)

while i won't make assumptions regarding your question to the FT it seems a lot of people are annoyed at the FT without justification, and are incorrectly attributing some mis information to their statements.

i think at the time people read what they wanted to into the FT statements rather than what was intended

Well I won't comment further on Christmas Day at least on my opinion of the FT. Except to say that I think that they have damaged their own position during this episode.

However, i take your point about MM's alleged comments re. having to move quicker because of other interest. I wonder though what substance there was to that 'interest'.

i think MM is smarter than to fall for tricks like that, plus i think he would have enough contacts in the buisness world to be able to varify himself.
