what if we only have had 2 players sent off in the first half and have been under the cosh the whole second half. Then a draw would be a good result - it's all dependant on the circumstances surely?

Yes, of course. But the point David is making is that it is foolish to go away from home with the intention of playing for a draw.
It doesn't make mathematical sense.

Oh yeah, well you should always go out with the intention of winning the match, obviously there are some games where other things are more important than the end result - preseason friendlies for instance.

I hardly imagine Nigel would be happy since I can guess the scenario . I accept that the remaining nine players would have done well to get a draw without their most experienced central defender and their chief playmaker.
One of the banned players may be only standing in until a certain Bulgarian comes back but the other is IMO the best midfielder since Muzzy.

Joe, I want to know what happens if we draw all of our home games and win all our away games. Can you draw a graph for us?

Ok, I'll succumb to your demands:

"What a beauty!" I hear you say.

That's the best graph you'll ever see - I bet Rob Tanner is wet after he sees this beaty. Still that in your blog and smoke it fruity.

What the hell is a beaty?

It's what I call graphs of this type.

And just how do you use a blog as a still?

Christ I am all o'er the shop at the moment!

How about Win the games where you play well and lose the games (like today) when you are second best and draw those where its neither one or the other:102:

As long as we are the former twice as many times then hopefully we will do alright and possibly make the play-offs After today it is obvious that we will not get automatic promotion but if we play more like we did at QPR then the play-offs are possible

According to the excellent graph i must sat :), we are on scedule for 81/82 points, which should be enought for 2nd place i would imagine!!

Surely based on any (decent) graph, our final position would be the same as it is at the current time.

If we are on schedule for 2nd place what place are Newcastle and West Brom on schedule for.

Promotion is not based on points but on position. In 2008-09 Sheffield United got 80 points and we not promoted. In 2007-09 80 points would have got a team promoted.

Leaving aside games in hand the way a club gets on schedule for 2nd place is to be in the top two. At the moment we are on schedule for
6th place.
