Any idea why I cannot use Winfax whilst I am on broadband?

I am off out now, so I will not be able to rerspond for a couple of hours

Because Winfax is designed to work via a fax-modem over a telephone line. Fax is analogue - Broadband is digital. If your system has a dial-up modem still, you should be able to connect it via a filter to your broadband-enabled telephone line and then send a fax.
