I have a windows 98 pc (that was the mrs dads old pc) that we want to give away to one of these charity places that recons them. Is there a quick way to wipe all the crap and programs off it?

There is nothing particularly sensitive on it like donkey/dwarf porn but I would just like to wipe it.

any help much appreciated.

Format the hard drive, you'll lose windows but that's just tough shit

I wouldn't see it as a loss, nobody should be using Win 98 in this day & age, it should be against the law.

hence why the comp has been sat in abox in my spare room for well over a year and i am giving it to charity.

I had a PC with 98 that was just a beige shape in the corner gathering dust for a couple of years until I wiped it & installed Ubuntu onto it.
It breathed new life into it, runs better & is more useful than when it was brand new with 98

:102: What???

Why are you waving your genitals at the mention of Ubuntu, again?
I'm sorry I really don't understand what you are getting at.

Just to clarify in case my post wasn't clear, I was simply saying that I had a box with Win98 on it that was useless & had sat gathering dust for years, I installed Ubuntu on to it about a year ago &, hey presto, it is a useful piece of kit again. More useful than it ever was with Win98.

I have since given Kubuntu a spin as well & was equally impressed but haven't had time to form a definite opinion as to which I prefer out of the two.
Kubuntu wins aesthetically, but that isn't what I will base my final decision on.

What is it that provokes such a reaction from you at the mere mention of Ubuntu?? :102:
