I have recently got Wireless internet, everything runs nice and fast, smooth as you like.

However, if i try and watch a video clip, movie, or genrally stream any music etc straight from the net, it loads fine for a while (usually arround a tenth of the length of the file) and then just stops buffering, loading, playing all together, does not even attempt to load the whole movie.

This isn't because the connection has gone down because websites still work fine, it's just with all media (Youtube etc)

HELP ME :(

Probably some spyware from going on all the porno sites! :icon_razz

You tried running any virus check software?

Have you tried 'hard-wiring' your PC/Laptop into the router and see if it will stream then?

If the wireless connection is otherwise working normally, I can't imagine it would be anything to do with that. Your first step, as M17TT C suggests, should be to isolate that by hard-wiring your computer to the router (if possible).

If this does show that the wireless link is the problem, can you connect to a different wireless system to identify whether it is your router or your wireless card at fault?

Do you have any other problems with your system that could be down to memory deficiency?

Memory deficiency hahah. Why would a trojan or some spyware stop a online video from streaming:icon_roll:081:

You quite possibly have not got the right codec installed, which is freezing the video, google DV Video and install that.

Another possibility is that your internet connection may not be the quickest, this will cause the streaming to freeze and buffer slowly.

Hope that helps.

I didn't suggest that it would. Why have you hung your response onto my post?

But as you ask, I would have thought that it was obvious that a virus of some kind could cause processes to be set in motion that would hog so much memory that no proper function, including streaming, could take place. But that is not what I was suggesting.

I suggest that you should wake yourself up properly before posting - I bet you haven't been out of your pit more than 10 minutes.

What exactly are you laughing at now? I suspect you don't know what memory deficiency means.
Boc didn't mention trojans or spyware but seeing as you asked the question it could stop an online video from streaming by using up his bandwidth.

If he didn't have the right codec the video wouldn't play at all

Nope still in bed.

How on earth would the virus take up sooooo much memory to stop a video from streaming. To stream a video online it will take up the smallest about of CPU.

Fludie

Why are you MSN messaging me telling me that I am suggesting a virus when in my first response I didn't even mention the word and in my second specifically stated that it was not what I was suggesting.

I really haven't the time for your games.

For a start memory isn't CPU, also if the performance of the browser is being affected, the video stream will be affected.

There's always the "block" feature on MSN.......:icon_wink

My mistake, he said that the video was stuck on buffering so it did not play at all.:icon_roll:icon_roll

He was making it sound like he was trying to explain what effect a trojan or virus would have on the video.

My mistake on memory:002:
