So wolves start their season next weekend and you are complaining that we lost? It is the same as is having our last friendly against a higher level team that is exactly what wolves have done.
Those players are fighting for match day contention next weekend, Shakey is giving everyone a crack it is pre season chill!
we start our season a week on Friday not 2 months from now, our players should be fighting for a starting birth by now, we played what is essentially our strongest 11 and barely troubled Wolves defensively, results don't matter but how they perform at this stage does

You are correct in part however Wolves should be sharper and more up for it, let's see how we are on Friday

no there is no reason why they should have been more up for it, the problem is the team know they have the places, this is why I said in the MK thread about the line up, they needed to be much more mixed to let the players know that there is genuine competition for places, Friday and Saturday's games told the squad who were first team and who were reserves

I am not saying they were not up for it more the point we are 2 weeks from the start of the season the worse time to pick up a knock, wolves on the other hand are starting next week and their players will be wanting to give their manager a selection dilemma.
If as you are stating we have 2 very distinct elements of our squad then we have not recruited enough pre season.

we could have recruited fine but if the manager still sees last season team as THE team it won't matter as they won't play.

the team and tactics didn't work last season, I'm hoping he is working on a new system in training and just isn't using it in these games but I'm not seeing much to be optimistic about ahead of the season

I am hopeful we start the same as when Shakey took over we have a bloody difficult start 6 pts from the first 15 will be good IMO

I never thought for one minute we would play any of our friendlies at the tempo we will play during the regular season. In years gone by this is standard pre season preparation, even the years we have won championships, our pre season has been low key and had no bearing on our league form, I am pretty sure these games are being used for fitness and getting players back into match day environment, tactics and patterns of play will no doubt be worked on in training.

Ooooohhh, logic.

I couldn't give the slightest toss that we lost, the result means **** all.

My concerns stem.from long before this lacklustre preseason.

Seems strange to not try and implement them in these meaningless games then surely?

Could be a laugh to try it at Arsenal away though.

The tactics are 442 and the style is pretty much the same as before apart from the defenders play the ball out to our backwards facing midfielders.

Hope to be proved wrong but I still think we are 1 dimensional.

I still think we are 1 dimensional.

What are you talking about?

We have two dimensions. The hoof over the top for Vardy expecting him to produce miracles or give the ball to Mahrez and expect him to produce miracles.

Anyway, we must be quiet about them both so Arsenal won't be prepared.

Perhaps we will sign another game changer? Maybe Iheanacho will be that man? Or will Iborra make a big difference? Maybe we are screwed?

I wish there had been a camera in our dressing room at half time yesterday.

Instead, we need a multiple choice about Shakespeare's team talk to the players. Did he:

a) Stand at a board with 4-4-2 formation laid out and say "this is it boys, the future"
b) Furtively ask the players "do you still all like me, cos I still like all of you?"
c) Address the players confidently "right lads, make sure you're even more shite second half, cos Arsenal will be watching"
