This is one of (the many) times that I am grateful to you chaps. I was beginning to think that it was me.
The BBC saw perfection, whatever Howard Webb did, and were so convinced that Spain were superb, whilst the Netherlands had taken over the role of the Argentinians in 1966.
I have to say, that it would have been very difficult to referee that game and I only saw two really poor decisions; the kick to the chest was an instant red (probably not seen - another case for a word in his earpiece from the fourth official?), and the clear foul on the Dutch player in the build up to the goal. Hanson's remark that the ref' got it wrong, but we don't care because it brought about 'the right result', almost sounds the death knell for competitive sport!
