A sad sign of the times is the fact at present there is not one player at City at the moment who would give me any sleepless nights if he left - how different from the legions of great players who have worn the blue shirt over the years such as Muzzie, Stevie Walsh from recent years to Gordon Banks, Davie Gibson etc from the 60's - Which 3 players from the past would you have in your present XI? - Mine would be Peter Shilton, Steve Walsh and Kieth Weller - premier league here we come!!!!

Dougan, D
Speedie
Claridge

Walsh
Elliott
Lineker

matty elliot
stevie walsh
stevie claridge (my unsung hero for THAT goal in 1996) does anyone have a small vid clip / link to it? best goal of ALL time ever...part 2! twice! ... ever.

neil lennon - the most important (to the team) and effective leicester player I've ever seen - ask peter taylor - and 2 others!!

everyone raves about how important izzet was, but lennon was by far a more important player-after he left it went all down hill-izzet was never the same player once lennon left

Going to the 4-4-2 was the problem. :D :D  ;-)

I've only been watching city since 1997 so I think I'll go for:

Collymore
Walker
Izzet

Can you imagine them now, remeber all Izzet's assists, picture them with Collymore to knock them in and Walker to keep 'em out!

Cottee, Elliot, Lennon

a real goal poacher, a real commanding defender, and a tenacious ball winning midfielder.

Looking at some of the replies answers quite a few questions.
Many of the players suggested are players from our recent "good times".
Suggests to me why the patience of some City fans is very short. Why they seem to think we have a God given right to be in the Premiership.
They don't know the bad times, the hard times.
Barely 6,500 hardcore at Filbo in the 80's. Times were bleak!
I'm not saying go back there. I hope you new supporters never suffer those times, but that first play off final was our first Wembly trip since 1969.
Bloody hell, I've just read my post and I sound like ol' grandad!!!
"I remember when..."
Anyway, my 3 players, Shilton, Weller and Worthington, (with Lineker as a supersub!!)
Time for my cocoa....coming nurse (I wish....) ;-)

Sadly I do remember those days and we have looked like that from time to time recently. :-( :-( :-( I try to blank those days out.

Lineker, Worthington and Nish. :D :D :P :P  ;-)

I think all your suggestions are good but if I had to pick differently then I'd be inclined to say:

Kaamark
Flowers
Worthington

tim flowers... everytime i saw some of his saves i was left open mouthed.
tony cottee... old man in football years and really showed heskey up, a proper striker.
matt elliott... if i were a striker and i came across him with his veins sticking out the side of his head i would fake injury and come off the pitch
