I wouldn't be disappointed by this signing IF it happens.
Powell has a bunch of experience which he can use not only during games but also behind the scenes with the likes of Mattock and Gilbert and co. He played 19 games for Charlton last season in the Championship so clearly he cannot be that unfit. We have no reason to question NP's judgement on players so far so I think he deserves to be trusted on this one should it happen. Bournemouth are a club in crisis. None of us know why Powell wasn't offered a contract with them. It was not necessarily because he wasn't deemed good enough.
As someone pointed out earlier, Paolo Maldini is two years Powell's senior and I doubt any one of us would be complaining if we signed him on a short-term deal. As a means to an end untl the end of the season I think Powell would solve our left back quandry perfectly.
