I could be wrong but haven't Virgin lost the franchise for one of their lines,I believe its the Cross Country Route.Might not have anything to do with what you mentioned though

Megatrain used to be available on some Virgin Cross Country trains. VXC lost this franchise, but not all of its routes, to Arriva. Megatrain tickets have not been available on Arriva Cross Country trains.

Some Cross Country routes were transferred to Virgin West Coast and Megatrain tickets continued to be available on these services. It is these that seem to have ceased.
