A youthful City XI notched up a second victory in a week on Tuesday night when they overcame non-league AFC Telford United in a pre-season friendly.
While the first team group continue their pre-season tour in Austria, a squad made up primarily of young professionals made the trip to Telford's New Bucks Head ground, under the guidance of development coach Steve Beaglehole.
And thanks to goals from Dany N'Guessan and trialist James Gray, the Foxes came away with an impressive 2-1 win against their opponents from the Conference National, who put the visitors under considerable second-half pressure.
It completed an impressive double for the Club's young pros, following up on their authoritative display over Oadby Town last week, which ended in a 7-2 victory.
Development coach Steve Beaglehole said: "It was a good test for our young players against a strong side that play at a good standard, so we were extremely pleased.
"We played some excellent football to establish a 2-0 lead by half-time and then had to defend resolutely for long periods of the second half, after Telford made a number of changes at half-time.
"Our bench was mostly made up of scholars, so we kept most of the pros on for 90 minutes. They did extremely well and managed to keep Telford at bay before threatening to increase the lead a little later on."
Steve added that he was pleased for the Club's young pros, who have shown they are determined to fight their way into first team contention, despite the Foxes considerably strengthening the ranks in the transfer market.
Steve also praised the attitudes of N'Guessan and Portuguese defender Joao Teixeira, who have been model professionals while with the young squad this summer.
"It's not always easy coming in and working hard every day when the first team are away, but I've been delighted with the attitudes shown by everybody. Dany and Moreno have been totally professional and have been great with the younger players.
"It's good for us to maintain the winning mentality and buzz that is around the Club at the moment. Our young players should be excited by what is happening and the example set by players like Jeff Schlupp and Adam Smith, who are away with the first team in Austria right now, shows that our own young players still have an important part to play in the Club's future."
