Sounds like a decent signing

From BBC world cup profile

The 28-year-old can play anywhere across the backline and is equally effective in a holding midfield role. A mainstay of the team under previous coach Ivica Osim, he is not guaranteed a starting berth under current boss Takeshi Okada.

He made his Japan debut in 2005 but was overlooked for the 2006 World Cup. An Asian Champions League winner in 2007, he has been named in the J-League Best XI three times (2005-07).

Abe made his debut for JEF United in 1998 at the age of 16 and was then the J-League’s youngest ever player.

After nine seasons at United and two J-League Cup titles, he was signed by Urawa Reds in 2007 for about £2.6m, at the time the highest transfer fee ever paid for a Japanese player in a domestic deal. A model of consistency, he has missed only four league games in the last five-and-a-half seasons.

Great stuff, welcome aboard Yuki Abe. Cheap name for the back of shirts too.

This is Google's translation of the description. I'm not convinced it's 100% accurate:

September 5, 2010 (Sunday) held at Komaba Stadium, Urawa Retsu 90th Emperor's Cup second roundZu vs Tokyo International University
After the game, Leicester City FC supporters appeared to greet Abe Yuuki has decided to transfer.
We are diamonds, but the video is halfway through, including over 30 minutes later, the studioCircling the am and went away.
You ugly lot, but most offensive to the ear where you, please understand.

Excuse my ignorance, but is he currently the only Japanese player playing in the whole of English football?

Interesting that he isn't shown in any of this pictures here of training. Wonder if that means he won't be involved against cov...

I thought that was odd as well. You'd think if he'd been present in today's training session then they'd want to sort of show it in the article.

A real coup for us apparently. All the best to him.

Was he called up for the Japan squad for their game today?
