There are also some where you can buy the DVD online, and you can download it at the same time so you can watch it before the DVD arrives, but this is more expensive than just buying a DVD.

As long as its money for the production companies, they are not bothered. More money off the likes of distrubtion and cinemas is more good news for them.

I'm not bothered about new releases, any good films I'm happy with.

I know that should I be tempted into the dark side I could download them from torrent spy or something but 99% are in avi format. Which TBH I used to prefer as I can play them on my DVD players.

However I can't stream them

As far as I'm aware they can't. You need to buy a new HD DVD player.

Still not sure whether the 360 is geared up for playing HD DVDs, personally I don't think it is, although I'm sure they will be at some point.

I believe if your 360 hasn't got a HD DVD player, it will be upgradeable

Right. Thats a bit shit to be honest as my DVD player is also my dolby dig unit so id need to replace the lot. What a feckin rip off! Hopefully the Xbox 360 will do the job and I will just buy the media remote.
