nothing to do with playing an under strength test nation and cynically thinking it'll be over in 3 days so to play it fri, sat & sun would maximise ticket sales then??

last year's Riverside test against Bangladesh was the first in years to start on a friday and probably precisely for the above reason. It would hardly have been fair for Durham to see their test match finished by Friday night with no play on the weekend at all.
