Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Sam McMahon - plays saturday league football in leicester, i forgot which team but it has been mentioned on here before. He now works in a school

He worked at my place for a while.

Fame and fortune obviously didnt find its way to our Sammy:icon_bigg

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

good job nice to see where they have all ended up..................apart from junior lewis lol

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Spider Kalac - AC Milan

Kalac does not qualify for inclusion in this list, his only appearances for City having been in the 1995/96 season.

No banana for Listy.

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Dont member these/haven't heard of them

Lars-Gunnar Carlstrand, Kevin Harper, John Hodges, Paul Hyde, Sascha Lenhart,Paul Murphy and Andy Welsh

Best mates with my cousin, was out for a few drinks with him the other night, brilliant laugh. He's now working in something to do with Wills and such like with his dad and brother.

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Steve Guppy - on the coaching staff at Colorado Rapids

Did he actually make this move? I know there was talk of it but he still appears as a player/coach on the Rochester Rhinos site and does not appear on the Colorado Rockets site.

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Following on from this thread, the list has been updated and extended to include any player who has appeared in a City squad since the League Cup winning season of 1996-7:

Ian Andrews - retired

Lars-Gunnar Carlstrand - appears to have gone to Sweden to play for IF Elfsborg after which the trail goes dead. If any of our Swedish friends know better, please correct this

Alan Fettis - Cheltenham Town goalkeeping coach/chief scout

Martin Fox - has played for several non-league clubs, now at Loughborough Dynamo

Luigi Glombard – Niort, in Championnat National (aka, French Division 3)

Lars Hirscfeld - CFR Cluj (playing in the Champions League)

John Hodges - joined Plymouth, retired due to injury

Paul Hyde - Hythe Town (Kent League Premier Division)

Tim McCann - looks to have disappeared after being released in 2001 (not a joke)

Paul Murphy - Newry City

Michael Price - recently left Hall Road Rangers to join Frickley

Stuart Slater - another one who never actually made an appearance, Slater dropped down the leagues before retiring at Weston-super-Mare in 2004

Tommy Williamson - Basingstoke Town

i was totally unaware of the existence of these players let alone them being associated with lcfc

great work though-amazing how few have gone on to succeed since leaving us !

I think only four of them ever made an appearance, so you'll be only one of thousands of City fans who have never heard of most of them. You should hang your head in shame about Ian Andrews though - he made well over 100 appearances for the club in the 80s before returning to the club twice around the turn of the century (as stand-by goalie and goalkeeper coach).

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Saw Andrews and Fettis, not sure about any of the others.

Re: Ex-players (the thread nobody's been waiting for)

Lars-Gunnar Carlstrand, Kevin Harper, John Hodges, Paul Hyde, Sascha Lenhart,Paul Murphy and Andy Welsh

Carlstrand named in the squad for 28/2/98 defeat at Blackburn, unused sub.

Harper loaned from Pompey in 2004, started at Rotherham and Coventry.

Murphy, Hodges and Hyde, all keepers, never got off the bench.

Lenhart came on as a sub of Jamie Lawrence in a League Cup win over Scarborough (25/9/96).

Andy Welsh was loaned from Sunderland on two occasions - March to May 06 and October 06 to January 07.
