in about 3 years time, probably the middle Michigan area or Maine. Do any of you Yank foxes have any advice on emigrating? I'm going to do the full research but any advice you have would be much appreciated (no comments along the lines of "yeah, don't move to America" as advice please!).

Any particular reason for the move or just tired of the UK ?

The uk is the 2nd worst country to live in
The usa however is officially number 1

Good luck mate ;)

Based on what? Source?

I think I would rather move to Somalia than either of those two to be honest.

i spent 13 years in new york (long island) from 1982 till 1995. times might have a changed a little since i was there but it all depends on many things.married/single,job/no job, kids/no kids, big familly/no or small familly.its not easy to get into america unless you have a specialist job or you invest a shite load of dollars.i would be happy to answer anymore of your questions by private message, as alot of what i could tell you wouldnt be suitable for young uns or sensative people on this site i.e fludie and melts respectivelly:icon_wink

I have a friend who used to live in Leicester but moved to Michigan with his dads work when we were 17 or so. I have visited him most yeas since and him and his parents say their quality of live has improved so much.

Plus I fancy a change and feel like doing something a bit different with my early adult hood. Need to marry the missus first though!

Cheers Biff, only started my search in earnest today, as questions pop up I will at will!

from what I have seen of it, its the only country I'd consider moving to.

why?

Is it the horrific gun related death that sways it.

Not really, however I have spent a lot of time in America and seen as many guns on the streets as I have here, none.

Exactly, it's just an easy sterotype to brand America with. I'm also guaranteed to be killed by terrorists apparantly.

i had guessed that but the yanks are always saying 'awesome' it gets a bit annoying after a bit :icon_roll:icon_bigg
