Fair enough Durham, I didn't see the conference and was just going from your post but obviously mis interpreted it. Does seen strange though if the adapter wouldn't work for sound and audio but I'd imagine China will knock something up that will do the job for about a tenth of the price.

re £500 phones, given that Apple is one of, if not the most valuable companies in the world and the iPhone accounts for a large percentage of their revenue, id say that quite a lot of people are quite happy to part with £500+ for the latest model.

I'd imagine most are sold to networks who then dish them out to customers who sign up for long contracts, thinking they are getting the phone free or heavily discounted. Of course, in most instances they will pay far more than £500 for their £500 phone.

Just out of interest Macky, where do you stand on Android? I cannot stand the walled environment of Apple and could not stand to be limited in the way they limit the users of their products.

Not sure what you're asking me Honky-tonks. I own a, contract free, Android phone if that helps?

At the end of the current contract I'm going phone-free. Never use it for calls, no one ever phones, it's a steaming waste of money.

If people want me in future they can email, use the post or leave a message on the answerphone at home.

That's pretty cool. When I lived in England I didn't give out my number to anyone (not that anyone ever asked), so I only checked my messages once a week or so and kept it in a drawer for the rest of the time. It was nice, but it's probably a lot harder if there are people who might want to reach you urgently, and if you need to use it for work.
