I worked with an ex Notts Police Sergeant for a while and he told me a fair few stories of policing football games; harassing innocent fans, the odd swipe with their baton for no reason and making sure they couldnt be reported by swapping their numbers around on their shoulders.

It was hell going to matches back then, so much so that I stopped taking any interest in football for years in the 80s. All of us were criminals in the eyes of the police. politicians and football administrators. And, for a large number of police, we still are.

I remember those fences at Ninian Park. When they described the fans as being like fish in a trawler net, I blubbed.
When people moan about health and safety I think about this. Always better to be wise before a tragedy.

Was very difficult viewing but I feel people need to see things like that to gain a real appreciation for why these families have been fighting for so long.
