If Mattock has indicated that he doesn't want to sign a new contract, and someone is offering 1.5m then he would be daft not to take it, as he will go for nothing (bar compensation) next summer.

Would the compo be more than the 1.5 million though, as it doesn't sound a lot to me, i would have rated him at circa 2.5 - 3.0 million?

I would guess that Mattock has made it clear he wants off when his contract is up - therefore best to cash in now. Also I don't think his game improved at all last season.
