You're assuming it's true, the BBC haven't confirmed it. Although if it isn't true I expect they'd have denied it.

Stupid decision!! They claim to be closing it because it competes with commercial radio and they are encouraging "30-to-50-year-olds to listen to popular music on commercial radio". I would welcome suggestions as to which competing commercial radio station I should switch to.

gutted about 6 music. Listened for about 4 years now - ever since DAB finally made its way over to the IOM. Will miss Adam and Joe (and Collins and Herring who are currently covering for them), the George Lamb show (love it - total A-Game) and Dave Pearce - Love the Sunday night dance anthems.

That being said I used to listen to Andy Kershaws Sunday night world music show on Radio 3 and look what happened to him!!!

It seems suspicious to me that the BBC have picked the 2 stations to close that will be most missed. Now they're saying that they will listen to the public.

the BBC trust in January recommended that both 6 music and asian network needed to boost the publics awareness of their existence. They completely advised against their closure. Perhaps this is their plan in action
