Ryanair flights extra baggage

Plenty of people get caught out by the 15kg a case when they've got a number of cases. We nearly fell foul of this coming back from Spain when one case supposedly weighed 17 kg (with the other 2 clocking in at 11 and 12). We were at the back of the queue so the normal threat of making you go away, repack and then try again wouldn't work but a different set of scales clocked that case at 14.5 kg and then, when they reset the original scales, it registered 15.5 anyway.

Still, they got their own back by delaying the flight by 10 hours. ****s.

Mr.Dour hits the nail on the head. We had 5 suitcases, 2 holdals (which had to be hand luggage) and 3 other bags.

How many of you were there? Were you emigrating and taking all your wordly possessions?

The Ryanair website is quite specific about the luggage limits. I can't see why anybody would need more than a single suitcase (upto 15 kg) PLUS hand luggage for a couple of weeks away. If you want more, pay for it. If you don't want to pay for it, pay more to travel with another airline that has more generous luggage limits.

Why should passengers who can organise themselves properly and travel light subsidise those who want to take their whole wardrobe with them even though half of it will come back unworn?

5 of us for two weeks. The amount my Mum decides to take on holiday for her and us two kids has proved a subject of argument of late.

We didn't pay extra. We just had to put a fair few clothes into the holdals and then we were okay. Everything was correct on the way back.

I enjoyed a great spot of schadenfreunde laughing at 3 sets of travellers who were still in a q when their plane was on the runway ready for take-off. This was mainly because of Girona Airport's way of doubling up on gates.

The 15kg per case (rather than overall baggage weight) is just a scam which delays everyone since every set of passengers caught by it first has a good long debate at the desk and then has to queue again. And balancing the weights isn't so easy when you're away and have no scales.

Someone we travelled with had their bags under the limit on the way out to Spain but despite having less belongings in the suitcase on the way back, the suitcase was overweight on the scales.
