LM reporting the Fryatt rumor...

http://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/L...Hull-striker/story-21166173-detail/story.html
Nigel Pearson is interested in bringing former Leicester City striker Matty Fryatt back to the club.

City are understood to be one of six teams interested in signing the Hull front man on a free transfer when his current deal at the KC Stadium runs out in a couple of weeks.

Fellow promoted side Burnley have also made inquiries while Championship sides Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan and Brighton are also said to be interested.

The striker has yet to agree terms on a contract extension after an initial offer last week fell short of the striker’s expectations, although it is believed Fryatt’s preference would be to sign a new deal with the Tigers.

However, he is a player Pearson knows exceptionally well, having managed Fryatt in his first term at the King Power Stadium before signing him for £1.2million in January 2011 once in charge at Hull.

Fryatt was Hull’s leading scorer last term with six goals in 16 appearances in all competitions, ahead of major signings Nikica Jelavic and Shane Long.

Totally disagree. We're a wealthy club that can afford to back our manager in getting his first choice targets wherever possible. I know very little about the merits of Ulloa, but if NP wants him, then we keep on at Brighton until we get him. The only reason we should back off is if we know Ulloa doesn't want to join us.

I find this an incredibly strange statement. We should keep on at Brighton until we get him? So let's say they take us for their apparent asking price 10 million. For a player with an average goal scoring record in a league below the one we are in next season that is absolute madness. No way should we be just wildly pissing our money up the wall because we just 'bid until we get our number one target'.

Number one target or not, there are better players out there that will be available for less and comfortably less than that too. When the apparent alternative is Fraizer Campbell who has PL experience and is 4+ million less? It's an absolute no brainer, regardless of whether Ulloa is our number one target or not.

Look at Lambert, an international striker, going to Liverpool for 4 million plus add ons. Yet you think we should be forking out 5+ million for a player that's never played PL football? I don't understand your point at all. Yes by all means pay good money to get a player that has quality, but they've got to be the right player at the right price. Ulloa at 5+ million isn't the man.

So we get held to ransom and pay over the odds for players because we have a bit of dosh?

Seems an utterly irresponsible thing to do, and I'm quite confident NP wont be going down that route.

Completely agree. NP should be trusted to go after the targets he and the team have identified, I expect they can also be trusted to know when to pull out from a club that is trying to rip us off.

Anything more than £3m for Ulloa and we deserve to go down as one of those teams who wastes money just as they are in the Premier League.

It's hardly as if he's someone that teams in the Championship would fight over so unsure where our desire comes from.

Even though they are different types of forwards, I'd much rather have Campbell than Ulloa and that's even before the cost comes in. Once you consider that, LCFCGW9 has it bang on that it's a no brainer who to go for.

NP and Steve Walsh determine targets and give those targets to Terry Robinson to get. They will have decided whether the player is suitable, obtainable and within budget. Once the target is passed to TR, it's his job to negotiate with the club in question to get the player. I wouldn't get hung up about the figures being banded about. There will have been significant offers but these will include clauses based on appearances, goals and our survival. Therefore, the headline figure is not something to get carried away with.

And I haven't suggested Ulloa as a signing, NP has. If we trust his and Walsh's judgement and want to support their efforts to establish us in the Premier League, we will be shafted for players on occasion and we will have to pay what it takes. I don't give a shiny shite how much we spend, it's solely about putting a competitive squad together and this is who NP wants. Everyone goes on about how brilliant SW is at picking players yet we're saying he's totally wrong here?

If Ulloa was based in Argentina and had a YouTube video or two, people would be creaming themselves at the prospect of paying £5m+. Just because he's a Brighton player, it's a totally different reaction.

Well that's bullshit.

VERY GOOD POINT.

Can I just clarify, I have never 'creamed' myself over a you tube clip.

Not since Hossein Kaebi.

VERY GOOD POINT.[/QUOTE]

That's an awful point. I don't think we'd be happy with a £5m signing from the Argentinian Leagues had he scored 14/33 there. The fact that we probably would've known very little about the player gives us a sense of excitement and hope that he might be very good - good enough to warrant his price tag.

As it happens, we know about him, his style of play and goal scoring prowess after seeing him this past year. And based on that. He's nowhere near the £5m vale. I'd rather spend a silly amount on Cardozo for example! Maybe a bit older but he's done the Bizzo at the highest levels. Then again, in NP we trust.

Crikey, I never knew some of this stuff was possible....

I would be more than happy with Ulloa. He was fantastic in the game at the KP.Great movement and touch.I really can't understand the negativity.

I am sorry - Cate, Old Fox, Jeff and all others who are upset. :icon_cry:
