Going Interrailing this July; Spain, Italy etc.
absolutely brilliant.
useful tip... If no comfortable seats left on the overnight journeys, bung the guard a few ciggies and kip in the freight wagon

I went off to Rome last month, and i'm looking at going to Tenerife in November. Was planning on Mexico, but both the job situation and Swine Flu have put a dampener on that.

I take it you are impressed with the Colosseum? :102: :icon_bigg

Never mind when or where, the main thing is that I will be back in time not to miss the first games of the season this year!In previous years I have missed as many as three games

I'll keep that in mind. So you've done it before then (interrailing)?

in 86 and 88, so things have probably changed!
great way of seeing europe
Been thinking of doing it again, but with hotels instead of youth hostel camp sites and overnight trains for accommodation!

Ok, is it ok if I ask you some questions?

I interrailed in 84. Had a plan but it got ditched fairly quickly and we just got on trains according to how long the journey was and whether we could sleep on them. I'm not sure how safe the sleeping on trains was, we heard some horror stories, but we had no trouble. I think the youth hostels are probably much better now too.

We had a great time.

Got back today from 5 days in Jersey. Bloody lovely! I'm sure it's just like most places in the UK in that its always nicer when the sun shines, but what a great place to spend a few days. We had blue skies all week and temperatures of 20+ each day.

I would recommend a stay for a few days but it's maybe a little expensive when you include flights.

I was 1 year and 3 years old :icon_lol: and DD you're a self indulgent ****er.

My first time there. You been before? Any good?

Yeah been a couple of times, never in the summer though so can't offer any useful tips

We know a few people who live in the Alps though and they reckon it's the most lively resort (and biggest ski area) in the summer so that's why we're going there

Last time I went we got caught up in a storm near the top of the mountain, it got to about -37 wind chill and we got escorted off by the mountain staff (all our beards that we were growing for a laugh froze!) but I would hope it won't be like that in July

Off Majorca for 2 weeks of sitting my arse, making an arse of myself and watching plenty of arses.

However, I am 50/50 over whether to go Stockholm a week later and watch a couple of football matches.

It was impressive, as was the rest of the city. We managed to get a cheat hotel within about 300 yards of it. Absolutely perfect location.

Couldn't compare it to the Pyramids though. They are amazingly impressive.

You are right it is impressive. :icon_wink

Nothing concrete yet but I'm hoping to get over to California for another wildlife watching boat trip in September, and there's the possibility of a couple of weeks in the Amazon in November...

Any idea which part of the Amazon?
