Buying him was a mistake in the first place.

The fee was a mistake, he might have been worth half what was paid.

There's no way Derby would pay £3 million for him.

This is probably where RL got the story from
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...ion-striker-Martyn-Waghorn-article672227.html

"Derby boss Nigel Clough is ready to approach their East Midlands rivals Leicester for £3million striker Martyn Waghorn"

Doesn't say how much they'd offer, or whether it's a loan or a permanent deal. Calling him a £3 million striker doesn't mean that's how much the sheep are prepared to pay for him.

He doesn't fit into a 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 as the central striker.

Some people may well have said the same about Vassell - but when he was given the chance to play there, he proved that actually he could

Same may apply to Waghorn

Was in one of the papers this morning.

Star :
Derby are ready to bid £3m for Leicester striker Martyn Waghorn

Just seen the rest of the thread.

£1 million and commons would be decent business

Vassell is a lot stronger than Waghorn.

I don't agree.

Waghorn is built like a bloody tank, and appears to be taller than Vassell. When Waghorn came in for the injured Fryatt just after last christmas, he bossed most of the defenders he played against, backing in and often shrugging them off.

They're both said to be 5' 7"

Doesn't do the simple things like meeting the ball usually too bothered about wrestling the centre back. Vassell holds the ball up better in my opinion.

That's the one thing that really annoys me with him, I lose count how often he loses possession by either not going to meet the ball or being too occupied blocking the defender behind him.

The Waghorn of this season has not been shrugging off big defenders and has been ducking out of aerial challenges.

Not getting in the team, if we get a chance to let him go, let him go.

Waghorn is bulky, but I'm not sure if he's actually strong (I have a feeling a lot of it is fat tbh). Agree with what others said Vassell holds off defenders and holds the ball up a lot better despite being of a lesser frame.
