What's going to happen when the Third Division teams have played all 15 opponents?

I'm glad you asked that question because it's about time I made an announcement about it.

You will probably have realised that with only 16 teams in each of the Third Divisions, everybody will have played everybody else after 15 weeks. So what are we going to do during the other 8 weeks of the Football League season?

I can now reveal the new Lega Poo Prima Divisione and the Lega Poo Seconda Divisione. You can call them the Third and Fourth Divisions, if you like - but I'll be calling them by their Italian names because it sounds more sophisticated.

At the end of the current 15-game season, the top eight teams from each section of the Third Division will be put into the Prima Divisione. The bottom eight teams will find themselves in the Seconda Divisione. All points and goals already obtained will be carried forward with the teams into their new leagues.

For the remaining 8 games of the Football League season, each team will play once against each of the 8 teams that came from the opposite section of the old Third Division. At the end of the season, the top four teams in the Prima Divisione will be promoted to the Nporn League with a similar number of relegated teams coming the other way. There will also be 4-up 4-down promotion/relegation between the two Lega divisione.

The Split

First part of the season over and now the split. In the Northern Section Maniac just managed to edge out Cate in the last game; similarly lanx jnr left it late to get into the Prima Divisione, condemning Scarby to the Seconda.

New tables

As previously advised, teams will keep their 'points' and 'goals' from the first part of the season so the new Prima and Seconda Divisione tables look like this:

For the each of the next eight gameweeks teams will play against each of the teams from the 'other section' of the old Third Division. With 4-up, 4-down at the end of the season, Cate and Scarby already look good for promotion with Maniac and lanx jnr among the favourites to start next season in the basement.
