my attitude to charity is: i pay council tax, income tax, national insurance & VAT, from which the government runs schools, hospitals, pays dole, pays incapacity benefit & pays soldiers to fight daft wars looking for weapons of mass destruction

seems like i pay too much to charity already

Despite what the Daily Mail might tell you, that is not the typical pattern of those on low incomes or who are in severe financial difficulty

my sister is on a low income so i do know something about it :icon_roll

same to you :icon_wink no wonder you dont have any money if youre giving it away :icon_wink

Hilarious that.I wasn't aware I was saying that you should give to charity, just that if people choose to then they should be made to feel that they are mugs for doing it.If I see someone worse off than me then I want to help, perhaps that makes me a mug, yeah i put myself first but if I have few quid to spare then i'd rather help some poor fecker out than stick it in a Tessa or whatever they are fecking called, thats just me and yes I may well be paying the price now for it but thats my choice

Not to mention Road Tax, 52p per L on petrol, the increase of 18% in the last 18 months on Alcohol duty if you drink...

Officially I have annualized hours but being classed as a university prof I only have to teach the equivalent of 18h a week for 32 weeks. Since I work for a specialist school attached to the Uni I could cover my hours in about 20 weeks which gives the opportunity for lots of overtime if desired.

Think that your company must be acting illegally to change your contract terms mid contract.

If we totalled the intelligence on this forum and divided it by the number of members we'd have a very low figure as a result. Just because the majority think something it doesn't make it true. :icon_lol:

Those are pretty long hours for a 99-year old.
