New ex-players (and managers) thread

Okazaki and ulloa helped us win the league, I don't they're the best players or even top 10 for their positions either.

TBH the whole was better than the sum of the parts.

Wes certainly wasn't the best CB in the league, Fuchs wasn't the best LB, etc... If you think they were it shows why it's an odd post for you.

We had Kanté and Mahrez who may not have been the best in the league but were damn close to it.

We had a team spirit and effort that was the best in the league.

None of that is of any consequence though when we're talking about whether Simpson is the best RB in the Prem this year.

Pop can start to narrow it down and say the best defensive RB (whatever that really means) and he's still wrong. The best wife-beating, defensive RB - I don't know the facts.

Confusing winning the league with having individually the best players is "odd".

Thinking that Simpson is the best RB is "odd"

but I don't need you to agree. I'm just giving my opinion.

Simpson best RB in the league - I'll laugh about that joke for a long time.
What on earth was all that nonsense about? What drivel. None of that was anything to do with the question you were asked or the point about Simpson. I can only assume the drugs have kicked in early tonight.

I will ask again, can you name a right back in the Premier league who is a better defender than Simpson? Defending, after all, is what he is there to do.

Back to the point of this thread, Nicky Adams seems to be having a very good game in the L2 playoffs tonight.

Let's bring him back - would be a great replacement for Simpson.

Classic deliberate misunderstanding for you there. I'm stating that saying that he wouldn't even be in consideration is a joke. I'm aware that the team that won was the sum of its parts. However, I do also believe that tactically it was because every player was doing what they were best at.

In Danny Simpson's case, it's being a defensive rightback.

Can you name a better defensive right back in the premier league at this Point?

Well, let's see.

david azpilicueta Is probably a better defensive RB.

Walker, no.
Zabaleta, maybe at a push but old.
Nobody at United (Valencia a really good guy player and a better right back), Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal (Bellerin is great, but not defensively sound).

Not sure anyone else is worth mentioning in same sentence as Simpson defensively.

So, yeah. 2 at a stretch.

At least half of the RBs in the prem.

Why should I bother putting names.

You rank the names of all the other RBs and then go to the middle and choose the top half.

And to say that Kyle Walker isn't a better defender than Simpson as well is sheer madness.

He did. Two assists. He's been Carlisle's best player this season.

2 assists, he must be an attacking RB so doesn't count.

Defensively I agree Simpson is one of the best. He isn't sought after because most teams now want full backs that are better when attacking.

If you want a better all round player, there are several, but none would be realistic targets for us IMO.

Since Benny's been in the team I think DS has been playing narrower to give a little bit of assurance presumably. It's worked (mostly) and underlines he's a decent capable defender.

A couple of times he's been caught upfield when our counters have been countered, but as an RdeL fan, I expect full backs to mess up occasionally, it's the cover that should then do their job.

Bollocks. All of it.

God dammit you're right, Glen Johnson is much, much better.
Nathaniel Clyne is good going forward but I'd rather have Simpson if it's a backs-to-the-wall game
Azpilicueta - Agreed, better.
Darmian? Not so sure.
Bellerin again is great going forward but same as Clyne.
Zabaleta is definitely worth a mention., but i would like to see him at Leicester nonetheless
I do not think Allan Nyom is as good
I do not think Adam Smith is as good.

Will that do, or should i post every right back in the world?

I'm tired of making the same point and some of you going off on one.

this is what I said:

You are confusing "consistent" with "phenomenal". He certainly has been consistent but he has big weaknesses, thankfully his defending is mostly solid.

He got the job over De Laet because he could defend better, De Laet kicked his ass in the attacking half. We could do much better.

It seems a good post to me. Just because BN and Pop then want to change what I said for their own reasons, take it up with them.

He was imo the worst player on our title winning team certainly not phenomenal and he isn't that good an RB even compared to the prem.

What lets Simpson down is his delivery this has stopped him becoming a top six defender, it is though fine margins that matter at this level if we can bring in an outstanding RB,CB we will be well placed to push into the top 6 and by some margin

Where did I 'change' what you had said? I honestly think you are going a little mad.

You may as well just hit a wok with a wooden spoon or draw a fish for all the sense you make sometimes.

He didn't dick around with that one did he, the complete bastard

He didn't play it off his other foot then?
