I think it's good how we have got some pace in the team - defenders hate playing against players with pace. This is the fastest team we've had for ages! ZOOOOM!

one of the dives was right infront of where i sit, and i can assure you that it definately was not a penalty. it was the one where he smashed the ball past rab and fell over him, i think they should reverse the punishment for dives.....eg. if you dive to get a player sent off (last defender for example) you should be red carded instead of yellow carded. i made that idea up when watching Arsenal would you believe

Maybe, but if a keeper dives for the ball at a players feet in the box then there's always the possiblity of a pen.

I think they should just get rid of this modern thing where any contact is deemed potentially foul. The contact should have to actually be sufficient to impede a player, as was formerly the case (in practice, if not the rulebook). So no more tripping over trailing legs that can easily be hopped over, or falling as if shot when you feel a hand on your shoulder. And no more blowing up for 6-of-1-halfadozenoftheother aerial challenges for hoofs in the centrre circle, which irritates EVERYONE but which they have to do...

well with the big call for video evidence we could push the case for targetting what is really killing football, cheats winning. players being offside/onside ball over/not over the line is something down to human error, the biggest problem when watching football for me is how soft the referees seem to believe the players are.

Not posted for ages due to being fecking busy, but have managed a quick visit to try and keep up.
I am quite surprised that Hammil is not getting more praise on here (unless I have missed it) but on Sunday I thought he had an excellent game and was at the centre of alot of the attacking we did, we even manages to hit them on the break twice, yes twice (even though we didn't score) with Hammil playing a big part in both we hardly manage that twice in a season lately. He also sounded quite lively at Cardiff, so IMO he should keep his place even though Smith is now available.
We haven't had the best of starts to the season, but things do seem to be coming together and it make sense to me to try and keep the same team playing week in week out and if a player has a bad game it should not result in an instant drop, but be a spur to have a chance to do well in the next one.
As someone mentioned it would be good to have players on the bench that can add something when they come on like Smith and this still allows Hammil to develope because he is still going to be here when Smith has gone.

The answer here is obvious:

My team would be :

Douglas

Maybury
McCarthy
Gerrbrand
Johansson

Tiatto
Williams
Gudjonsson

Hume
De Vries
Smith

Subs

Henderson
Dublin
Hammond
Kisnorbo
Hughes

I liked the sound of the formation on wednesday night, I think to get the best out of Williams or Hughes then they have to play in a 3 man central midfield, I dont believe either player has a strong enough defensive game to be played in a conventional 4 - 4 - 2, IMO it makes us weak in the spine of the team, hence the inconsistency of results and why neither player has been able to influence games as much as they should be. Played alongside 2 battlers like Joey and Tiatto will enable them more space and time and enable them to dictate a game, then we will see there real quality. The only reason I have plumped for Williams for today is due to the fact that I would be unwilling to risk Hughes with his injury.

I would also replace Hamill and Hammond with Hume and Smith, whilst both players have done ok, I feel Hume and Smith are the better players and more likely to provide the cutting edge. It is an exciting side, full of pace, skill and invention, but is capable of defending as well, as the clean sheet at Cardiff proved.

A good side, but whatever side CL picks, I hope he does not let himself go back into his shell. :icon_wink

I think Kisnorbo might edge Joey and possibly Smith in for Tiatto but agree with the rest.

Well I got that bit right.

- we will then have two players there who can change the game, if needed.

But sadly not this bit!!
