I find it absurd that the club should have to publicly explain the squad selected.

Would a press conference or simple press release stating he's no longer good enough make people happy?

It’s pretty obvious after being loaned out, having his squad number removed that Puel doesn’t think he’s good enough why the hell do you need Puel to embarrass King by saying as much in a press conference

Hasn’t stopped him so far.

Look, put simply...Andy King is one of my favourite players and by any definition a club legend. I think he has been treated quite poorly by the club and the manager of late. Others think differently, fair enough. But I’m quite sure I’m not alone in my view. Which is my point.

In days gone by they would have given him a testimonial by now. True we are a club with ambitions and trying to build a young, talented squad for the future, but that is no excuse to disregard the loyalty that he has shown especially in these days of so called "player power" where many will spit out their dummy for the chance of an extra few quid in their already bulging bank accounts. No matter how the club treats him Kingy will always be "one of our own" and a true legend in the eyes of most fans whatever your opinions on his ability (lets not forget that he is still an international player who has represented his country at the Euros).

The guy deserves the chance to be let go on a free to get regular first team football.

Welcome, Urban Fox

The guy deserves the chance to be let go on a free to get regular first team football.

The problem with that is even on a free, he'll probably only be wanted by Championship clubs, who won't be able to match his current wages.

Remember 2002, when were relegated and were desperate to get high earners out of the club?
We made players like Elliott and Flowers available for free, but no one wanted them because of their wages. Different circumstances this time, but still difficult to get rid of players we don't want.

Some CONMEBOL and CONCACAF windows are open, maybe he’s on the radar of Boca Juniors. Or he could **** off to the Bahamas or Aruba for a bit.

A few in Africa and Asia too. Syria maybe? Angola? Sudan?

Of course, playing for another club in England is always an option, since they got rid of the transfer windows below the Football League. I’m sure Chesterfield or Wrexham can afford his wages.

The only other ones open in UEFA, as far as I can tell, are Israel and San Marino, I’m sure the sharp culture shock of living in the Middle East or the drastic drop in quality to play park football on a hill which somehow became a country are very enticing.

Maybe Australia, again not a great standard but hey, summer is coming, he can go and play in an oven for 6 months.

Or maybe he’s staying until at least January.

I do agree with most of what Urban fox said though. It’s not often players stay at a club for this long these days.

I think what will probably embarrass him more will be the selection of a player who spends only 5% of the year being able to stand-up straight, over him.

Fans who think that this is absolutely abominable treatment of a stalwart of our club perhaps deserve to know why the decision has been taken. It's a ridiculous notion that clubs should be allowed to pick and choose the questions they want to answer from the people who help financially support them.

Maybe he doesn't want to move because he's on a massive ****ing wedge and he's happy just taking the big money?

Or is Andy too nice for that?

where have I said the question shouldn't be asked? I'm saying Puel gains nothing from answering it, I am not defending the selection of James, in fact in this very thread I said it was a mistake but yet again the people that have a personal dislike of Puel are jumping on something flimsy to hammer him with, the same people that would be outraged if Andy King were in the starting 11.

I love Andy King but he's not good enough for us, we have out grown him, its a shame Swansea went down had they stayed up he would have left

He could be very happy living in the area or some shit. A club like Derby would be ideal for him as he'll still be good in the champ and they'll never get promoted.

If James wasn't in the squad then there wouldn't be a question to answer I reckon. With him in the squad it's odd we've pretty much thrown away a squad place. Silva and Iborra aren't the fittest of players so should they be (more) unfit at the same time we're short of cover.

so if he'd left out James and named Elder, Benny or Kapustka people wouldn't ask the question? Stringer asked it IIRC, he was always going to as he is a stirring little shit

I'm not sure. By including James instead of King we've wasted a squad place he's marked for a central midfielder. If he selects one of those then I'd assume he thinks he needs some cover for other positions. Picking James over King is a joke and deserves questioning. Is he genuinely further down the pecking order than someone who can't play?

The question that needs to be asked is of Rudkin: “Why the **** did you give Matt James a new 4 year deal”

Sorry but I can’t get aggitaded over who is 6th or 7th choice in CM
