Similar conversations being had as before the Ipswich, Norwich and Crystal Palace games. Looked what happened there!:023:

My worry is that the matches we've won recently have been against teams with not a great deal to play for, Norwich - were in trouble but now safe and mid-table, Cardiff - drifted about a bit but safe and in mid-table

Matches against Bristol, Southampton & West Brom are very important to each of them for obvious promotion/relegation reasons and these are the games where we don't seem to be picking up any points

I hope I'm wrong but I think things could look even worse than they do now after these 3 games

Good thinking in my opinion - I agree that we are at the time of the season that it becomes easier to pick up points against sides that have little to play for...this happens every season.

However, I'm not so sure that we need fear the top teams so much - good luck to Bristol City because they try to play football but to be honest they don't have much substance and in the event of being promoted could well set a new prem record for least points. As for WBA - on paper the strongest squad but they seem to have strange lapses.

I've got some doubts about us against Colchester and Scunthorpe because if they can still muster a bit of fight - I don't think we have the bottle to match them for effort even though we have arguably better players.

Just as well some of you aren't giving the prematch teamtalk.
We might as well just pack our bags for our hols and get ready for life in div 1(3) :098:

I don't think we will be relegated - possible but very unlikely. We generally over-estimate how many points we need for safety. I can see points being achieved against Bristol City - possibly even a win and we will get posts saying that everything is fine.

we have to look at winning on tuesday night they cant keep clean sheets for love nor money

I honestly think we will be lookiing down and out after the WBA game next Saturday. The situation is reaching crisis point, and thats why i argued earlier in this thread that these games are vital. By the time we get to play the so called relegation match against Wednesday it could be all over.

im starting to agree with you even though i agreed with homer in that the preston, scunny, colchester and saints games were the most important but looking at it from a different view by the time we play scunny we could be almost cut off and in the bottom 3 so the scunny game will count for shit if we were to lose our next 3 games and sheff wednesday win their next 3..i know its all 'iffs and buts' before anyone starts :icon_roll

I think the next game is the most imporant,I wouldn't pick out certain games as 'Must Win' games.Any team can beat any other team in this League and I think we are as likely to beat West Brom as we are Colchester.

I think we have to take at least a point against Southampton. The inability to win today when we undoubtedly dominated the match will have damaged confidence still further and it's important that this is rectified as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, i think the manager is a liability and should be stood down now - but I can't see this happening.

Ref: Willlow..........this is not a dig at you chap, i know you well enough not to do that.:icon_wink

Just to say that i posted this thread a week ago because the warning signs were there. I did truly believe that our destiny could well be decided from the results of these games. Although its not quite over yet, i feel that psychologically we are done for. The team as not got either the quality or fighting spirit required to stay up.
Its a sad night for us, and the WBA will probaly be the final nail in the coffin imo. I wished those games you mentioned were to be our saving grace, but the players, the owner, and the manager have failed us to an extent that we dont even look like we will go down fighting.
