Aplogies if this has been touched on before, but...
As a lifelong City fan (albeit from a distance now), one thing still puzzles me as not only a City fan but as a general football fan.
When i'm not watching City perform (sorry, please put under before perform) i enjoy (as i am sure most people do) watching 2 teams playing attractive attacking football.
This is not to say that there aren't certain times when defensive play is needed, but nothing pis**s me off more that watching a match where either one or both teams play (Wimbledon) hoofball.
If on watching a match on TV one of the teams is playing hoofball i (nearly)always want the team playing attractive penatrative footballl to win.
So, why do we (as City fans) have to accept hoofball as our preferred method of play? Many other teams with (arguably) as mediocre a bunch of players as us do not adopt this style of play, then why the hell do WE?
We wonder why we're not on TV, and are never chosen for extended highlights on TV even when we cause an upset, well, i'm sorry but our ''style'' of play is pathetic, negative and unattractive.
I'm now going to quote something that i am sure will have many die hard fans calling for my scalp, but i would rather see us playing attractive and progressive attacking football and not get promoted than play the current dross of hoofball and get to the Premier league.
If we (and this is unlikely, i know) do get promoted this season our current ''style'' of football will look pathetic and we will be found wanting by almost all the other teams in that division. The result of which, will almost certainly be relegation. So why play this style at all?
I want (no matter how crap the bunch of players) us to play the ball along the ground and play attractive football.
Until we start to do this we are going nowhere fast.
