Because we are playing football. Winning comes above the performance every single time. I don't go down to watch entertaining football, if I wanted that I would watch Arsenal. I go down to watch Leicester win by ANY means neccesary

IMO, football is in the entertainment industry. I care passionately about LCFC otherwise, as i live in London there are far more ''trendy, and attractive'' tems to go and watch.

Why win at all costs? If we win by playing hoofball, we can only attain a certain degree of short term success.

So playing good football is always the better option and it will bring better long term results in the future.

Not if we carry on winning by hoofball surely?

But hoofball will not bring results in the prem. And by playing it now, we would have to change our style in close season which would mean starting the new season in a poor state, untried and untested against the best teams who have been playing their style long term?

I wouldn't get to fretted about us playing "hoofball" in the prem. This really isn't going to be an issue for the forseeable future.

Unfortunately, we are achieving relegation type results under a manager who has already gone down with one decent sized ship. We should be more concerned about the possibility of playing that kind of football in League 1.

I SO agree with you. I think, to be fair, at the moment, there is no alternative to a variation on hoof ball: we have two central midfielders, and one of those is crocked for at least another month.
We have to remain positive; we now have five or six worthy first team players as opposed to two or three last season. The summer signings were largely disappointing and we must hope that Megson can keep Milan's rushes of blood in check and get a couple of good players, hopefully on loan soon, but at the latest, in January.

The only manager i can recall trying to get us playing a fluent passing game was Mark Magoo. Problem was it was all sideways pass and move stuff and not adventurous attacking football. We kept the ball quite well under Magoo but it wasnt hurting the opposition.

As I'm sure you already know, the type of football teams play largely depends on the players at his disposal.

In the long gone past, Leicester City did have a reputation for playing good (passing game) football. It was said that this was partly due to the club's then tradition of having a fair number of Scots players (this was when Scottish football had a decent reputation).

Later on - during the 70's - the Bloomfield sides probably played as attractive style of football as any in the country. Taking up Camberwell's point about televison coverage this would explain why Leicester had so much coverage on Match of the Day in that era.

In my view it would be difficult for the present personnel to play what we think of as 'good football' and to be honest - given his own history - I would have thought that would be one of the last things on Megson's mind.

you carnt say that after he changed it round in the second half sat ,we played loads better .

Ok we only got a point but i think that shown what is needed to be done ill stay on the sides untill after tuesday night :icon_wink

Changed it round?? He only corrected the mistake that he had made 45 minutes earlier!!

give him time FFS

I have heard Peter Taylor give him time FFS, Mickey Adams give him time FFS, Craig Levein give him time FFS, Rob Kelly give him time FFS, Nigel Worthington give him time FFS, Martin Allen give him time FFS and now Gary Megson give him time FFS. :102:

It amazed me when city finished so close to Portsmouth when we were promoted 3-4 years back. In terms of football they were streets ahead of us and i can see why they made a good fist of the prem whilst we went straight back down. Reading and Fulham also played good football and imo this is the secret to them holding their own in the prem. They were both promoted with settled footballing teams. When we were promoted under Brian Little we had a team of cloggers and were quickly found wanting . The same happened under mental Micky.
A side that gets promoted by playing good football will not have to do so much in the transfer market, as opposed to a side like us who would need major changes to survive.

Sums up the whole debacle for me.

Maybe if we got a decent manager on board we wouldn't need to keep giving them time.

anyone else think their is some pattern in the tactics of the managers mention by steven.....defenders and forwards playing midfield, or in the same area that they are competent in but on the wrong side, IMO that has been our downfall for many years and it fecks me off

And most of them didn't get given time... draw your own conclusions.

Yea, something that maintained our historic stay in the top two flights of english football.

But would we have been in that position if we hadn't changed manager so many times? That's the point I was making. We are CRYING OUT for some stability.

And Martin O'Neill - but we didn't get rid of him when the terrace moaners started did we. Maybe a lesson there?

You ask why most people would rather get promoted (and possibly go straight back down again) with hoofball than not get promoted but play pretty football??

Fifty Million Pounds is your answer. With the extra money for prem clubs now, it is vital we get promoted as soon as possible - even if it does mean we become a yo-yo team for a few years.

Because otherwise the gap between Leicester City and other Championship clubs who have been in the Prem recently will continue to widen.... We will continue to be a mediocre Championship team and will not have the funds to buy the players capable of the pretty football you are so fond of.

I don't like Megson's tactics either. But as he showed against Villa it CAN work. If we get promoted nobody will be complaining.
