Because we are playing football. Winning comes above the performance every single time. I don't go down to watch entertaining football, if I wanted that I would watch Arsenal. I go down to watch Leicester win by ANY means neccesary

Exactly.

Spurs have just gone 4-1 down at home to Villa, a result that will keep them in the bottom 3 :038::038:. Does anybody think that their fans give a flying feck about the quality of the football? Of course they don't, they'll be screaming for the manager's head and demanding winning football.

If you are a supporter of a team then winning is what matters, of course if you can win when playing attractive, flowing football then so much the better but winning is what it is all about.

I realise that to interpret your comments of last season as welcoming relegation would be as misleading as your suggestion that I was a big fan of Rob Kelly (after the first couple of months of his tenure.)

I didn't say you were a big fan of Rob Kelly. What I did say is that after his first couple of months in charge you said he should be given the job - as did most people, me included. But at least I'll admit it, you tried to claim you never thought that, and knew better than everyone, despite the evidence.

Anyway, that's an old argument, if you're going to have another go at me about something you think I said, I suggest you find the original post to make sure you read it properly the first time.

Not over yet and its Spurs 3 Villa 4

I bet Spurs fans would prefer to have a team that shows some fight rather than one where the manager puts extra defenders on when you're a couple of goals behind.

I wasn't claiming that losing by not much was good, just that winning is.

Spurs 4 Villa 4.

Cant wait to see my Villa mate at work tomorrow:icon_lol:. I shall be reminding him what a shite week they have had:biggrin:

O'Neil out:icon_bigg

Both sets of fans will be disappointed. Villa because they should have won. Spurs, when the euphoria has worn off, because they are still in the bottom 3 and are not winning.

Its games like this that can turn your season. Leicester were doing o.k until they played Wycombe in that cup tie, and i'd mark that as one of the points when our fortunes went in to steep decline. The game against Wolves away (3-0 up and lost 4-3) also had a big effect on our last prem season. It seemed to set the tone for countless collapses and lack of belief. Didnt we blow 2 injury time goals that season to give Boro a 3-3 draw. You might find Spurs get a positive response from their comeback where as Villa will be well deflated.

The point I was making is I'd rather watch a team that will fight for everything and try to get back into the game even when they're three goals behind, than one where the manager decides to throw the towel in and not risk losing by more - like Leicester did at Charlton.

If you play damage limitation football in this division you have got problems. Even if we are not good enough the mindset should be that we can win against anyone in this league.

Fair enough.

As you say it's an old argument.

I know perfectly well that you a) didn't want us to be relegated b) thought we had enough points anyway when some of us thought Kelly could take us down.

On Kelly and finally and finally, I hope, I did think he deserved the job in the first instance partly because I couldn't see anyone better coming in for it....but I soon changed my mind and tend to believe that those close to the action at The Walkers might have known better in the first place.

Sorry if I have riled you again on this one....I realise that most of your views are more researched than most.

Some of us have been trying to catch Jeff out for years on other forums and I'm not sure that it has happened yet! Unless Bob knows differently :)

OK - I have been sussed.

Just getting a sly dig in - I'm sure my past rants and ramblings would be even more embarassing.

But getting back on track, last season I thought maybe RK could take us to mediocrity. A shit goal, but hey, we were shit.

How come, this far in, we're even shittier?

We should be 'singing in the stands' for who 'we' want playing ie kaebi, stappleton, and whoever else is shining for the reserves right now...!
They deserve thier chance when the first choice players aren't performing on the pitch. Then let them try and play their way back in, if they hungry enough for it!! :081:

Thank feck for that

It's hardly proved to be a runaway success has it ?

There used to be a real in depth look into any potential managers, speaking to colleagues, players etc. The one before megson was appointed based on a face to face meeting and that only. Might be right, might be wrong. just thinks its interesting.

Absolutely, the manager should base all team selections on his favourite chants from the stands.
I also think that if the crowd sing for ex-players like Muzzy & Lenny then the club will be forced into signing them again, they won't have a choice and if that happens then I think we'll win the World cup.

Not meaning to be disrespectful - but what if the ex-player is now deceased?

How could that factor be accommodated in team selection?

they'd still be more useful than the majority of our first team!
