Posted on: Mon 03 Sep 2007

Leicester City have today signed Danish forward Adda Djeziri on loan until the end of the year.

The Foxes finalised the 18-year-old's switch from BK Frem this morning.

Djeziri spent much of last season on loan at Scottish giants Rangers, where he won the 2007 Scottish Youth Cup and Youth League double.

From Wikipedia:

Adda Djeziri (born 3 August 1988) is a Danish footballer of Algerian origin who currently plays for Boldklubben Frem in the Danish 1st Division.

Djeziri played in the Rangers reserve and under-19 teams until the end of the season with a view to winning a permanent transfer deal. He would have commanded a transfer fee of around £125,000.

He was part of the Rangers under-19 team which won the 2007 Scottish Youth Cup and Youth League double.

In July 2007, it was reported that he was close to joining English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers for around £125,000.

He nearly signed for Blackburn this summer. From one of their websites:

After training with Blackburn Rovers in a recent trial capacity it is looking as though Rovers are preparing an offer of a contract to Adda Djeziri to see him stay with the club?

The 18-year old winger (who can also play up front), is currently contracted to Danish side Frem (the team Rovers signed goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen from) is understood to have impressed Mark Hughes and the coaching staff at Ewood Park during his recent trial, and the Danish star could now be set for a move to Rovers (according to skysports.com)

Although there is Algerian decent in his family, he is a Danish national, and is HIGHLY rated and WOULD have signed for Glasgow Rangers last season had Paul Le Guen not left Ibrox when he had. Djeziri has spent several months of last season on loan with Rangers, but a change of management saw the deal fall through, with Rovers now looking like taking advantage.

Frem's Sporting Director Hans Hermansen told skysports.com:

"I think he has done well and it looks good at the moment

"We will be having further talks this week, but we are expecting a yes or no soon.

"Two months ago we sold Gunnar to Blackburn and it would be nice for them both if Adda also went there.

"We are always happy to help our good young players move on, once they have reached the level that they can no longer progress at
."
