I know we should avoid reading too much into the squad numbers, but Hume moving to 7 and MDV to 9 interests me... 7 isn't usually used for strikers, at least not in this country, and with MDV becoming no. 9, I'm wondering if perhaps Hume will be moving to the right and MDV to partner Fryatt up front?

Hughes and Williams are getting new numbers every year! Hughes had 5, then 4, now 6! Williams 16, 6, now 8?

I don't get why they keep swapping them around. I like having the players we will play numbered 1-11, so I don't mind them moving to accomodate that, but as I say with Hughes, I don't understand why they keep changing him. I guess this season doesn't matter as much since it's a new shirt anyway and the shirt isn't out yet so no one would have brought one with the wrong number.

What does it matter, there is at least 1 player out of the numbers 1-11 who will definatleyplay, probably more. Therefore that leaves gaps in the numbers 1-11 for squad players ie MdV.

nah i think he signed for 1.6 highland and in the press conference he helf up a city shirt saying 1.6 on the back-but he definitely wore 18
