Tunchev may be the best defender we have by a mile but if the current players in his position are playing so well they can't be dropped.

What will probably happen is that Brown or Hobbs will get injured, Tunchev will come in and then will be the first choice until he inturn gets injured. That's the way it is

That would obviously depend on the manager, but if you have a player that is clearly better than one that has been playing for a couple of matches, it's nonsense to suggest that the better player won't see first team action again until the other player gets himself injured.

As it happens I've lost the old one, which is a shame really as I was going to wear it Saturday as my ban is now up.

It's not typical for clubs to sign players who have been out of action for an extended period. Usually - by which I mean 'with the exception of Villa when signing overrated wingers' - clubs will wait to see what the player looks like when fit.

Leicester did. We signed Carl Cort who passed his medical even though he had been injured for some time, was still injured and would stay injured for several weeks. Cort would be so impressive in training while still injured that Martin Allen changed his mind about signing Jimmy Floyd Hasselbank after the player had agreed terms. When Carl Cort was finally passed as "fit to play" he was described by the manager as "awesome". It is fair to say that he brought new meaning to the word "awesome."
