An american mate has just asked if this info is correct:

Just read about a young California boy..Marcus Watson..defender..signed with Leicester. Any info? I've never heard of him...
Apparently he's trained with the U.S. under 18's..but both his parents are English.

So he wants to know, a)if it's true and b) if it is, anything about him.

So I tohght I'd ask you lot cos you always seem to know more than most!

According to his club site, he turned 18 two weeks ago and signed for us as a professional. A 6 foot midfielder.

Doesn't say when he signed but it may be a mistake although they definitely mean us!!

If it is right, then it is another very strange signing IMO.

Personal I love to hang with my friends when I am not playing soccer. I am working hard to improve my GPA. I now realize how important it is to have great grades to support my soccer talent. I also love teaching my younger sister soccer.
My Mum and Dad are both from England so I have had a more European upbringing. My younger sister is 11. My whole family lives for soccer, or football as we say at my house.
My Dad supports Tottenham Hotspur, so I have had a really tough start in life.
I aim to be playing professionally in England in the upcoming years. After that I hope to be working in sports medicine.
My ultimate goal is to succeed in all I do.

city signed a kid in my daughters year at school. she's 10. keep your eyes peeled for ben chillwell. he's shit hot apparently.

I thought for a split second there that, finally, I had got the well deserved call I'd been waiting for.... but no. Boo!

Yeeehaw

Why?
Can somebody elaborate on 'GPA'?
I suspect it's some hideous Americanism.

I'm guessing at 'Game Point Average'??? :102:

GPA is Grade Point Average based on scores from hundreds of standardised tests completed from age 12 upwards.

The scale ranges from 0.0 to 4.0. The mean US student score is around 2.5.

Most students going to university would have a GPA of at least 2.5 - 3.0.

Students applying to the best Medical and Law Schools would normally need a GPA of at least 3.5 to be able to be considered.

To get sports degree scholarships you would need a GPA of 3.0 - 3.5!

Those 'grunts' you see in college 'gridiron' must have rich parents!

So our new boy is not thick, but not likely to win a Nobel Prize any day soon!

Righton.
So it's nothing to do with football & is utterly irrelevant to us?

Well he doesn't look good in training

Crazy decision if you ask me
